February Newsletter
February 3rd 2012 meeting Trout Creek (in the Grain Bin)
First of all, a BIG sorry for not being able to get out last month’s newsletter. My computer crashed and could not be fixed. We needed to get a new one and transfer all the info plus trying to run this new laptop is being a challenge. So please bear with me. We made the January meeting as short as possible being it was right before the Christmas party. We had a very good turn out of over 115 people. Everyone received a door prize thanks to the local businesses. We again had over $2000.00 worth of prizes. We had very good meal. We did run low/out of food but not due to the cooks. The day I was to call her with a count we only had 70 at that time but I told her around 90. So that is what they planned for, plus extra. Even the day before the party, we were getting calls. That’s why it is so important to call by the deadline. Thanks to Gary Lueck (Park Ridge) for donating a keg of beer, Kurt Malinowski (Golden Glow) for donating the milk & Rainy Folies for making the cakes and for Dorthry Baier giving us a very good price on the meal. This all helped with the end price. And thanks to the Moose Lodge.
We had a balance of $4,615.00 in the checking at our January meeting. There was no CVSO report giving. Just a few comments on Country/Rock Fest and a few other events going on in other counties where mentioned.
A reminder for the members that have not renewed your dues. You will get a Notice in this letter. If we do not receive your dues by the 1st of February you will be taken off the mailing list. And also a reminder for the few of you that still have your raffle tickets. Please return the money & stubs ASAP for I need to get these turned into the AWSC before the convention in March. As for Country/Rock Fest it was voted to NOT do this this year. (all Chippewa clubs) So any club members that had signed up to work, this is not going to happen. There was a problem with the over pouring and the Fest will not pay us for last year. If you have questions on this please give me a call. I don’t want to go into it in the newsletter. So this means we lost our major fundraiser that the club had. So we are going to need to come up with other ways to make money for the club plus we may need to cut back on some of the things we do. That being said, the club is running concession stands for a Bloomer basketball tournament Saturday Feb. 4th. We get any profit from the concession. If anyone wants to help we will not turn you down.
If we get enough snow for the trails to open we do plan on taking the Safety class students to Rock Lake and doing the “on the trail wiener roast”.
At the February meeting we will be discussing the Country/Rock Fest ordeal, next year’s Christmas party, gifts for the Landowners, the AWSC convention, future fundraisers, scholarships, groomer update, (we are looking for groomer drivers). Door prizes (2) Newlyweds & longest married.
Where’s the snow????? Hope to see you at the meeting.
Robert
