SEMINOLE MIDDLE SCHOOL PTA
Message From The President
We are looking forward to a great school year. This year has started off well. Mr. Lechner and his staff are working hard to make our school one we are all proud of. The PTA has been working also to assist the staff in any way possible. In order to do this we need volunteers. Just a couple of hours can make a big difference in the lives of our students. One of the goals of the PTA this year is to increase communication with parents and teachers and let them know what the PTA actually does for our school.
These are just a few of the activities the PTA participates in for the school. We are also exploring new ways to raise money in these trying economic times. We hope to start the following silent fund raisers.
We also hope to collect copy / printer paper for the school. Paper takes up a great deal of the schools budget. We hope to collect paper to offset that expense.
Simply joining the PTA shows your support for our school and our children.
I look forward to meeting all of you.
Glen Smith

News We Can Use
FREE Immunization Clinic
Today, we are all looking for ways to improve our health and that of our families, Immunizations remain one of the best and most effective ways to protect ourselves from many serious diseases. Many major medical organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Family Physicians, recommend vaccinations/immunizations for children as they enter school and then booster updates as they enter adolescence and even into adulthood. Some diseases (like polio and diphtheria) are becoming very rare in the U.S. as a result of immunizations, smallpox has been eradicated.
For the school year 2010-2011, there is a State of Florida immunization requirement for 7th grade.
Students entering (or attending) 7th grade will be REQUIRED to have a Tdap (tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis) prior to attending class. Remember no shot no school next August.
The Department of Health will be holding an Immunization Clinic at Seminole Middle School on April 15, 2010 for students who need Tdap or any other recommended boosters. There will not be a charge for the shots. If you have any questions please contact the school nurse, Ms. Field _ 547-4520.
