The Zen Substitute
Adapted by: James R. Brandon and Tamako Niwa
The Zen Substitute is a light-hearted farce of Kabuki theatre. Lord Ukyo wishes to see his girl friend on the sly, and so persuades his wife to let him perform Zen Meditation under a robe in the garden. He convinces his servant, Tarokaja, to take his place while he sips off to his redezvous. As you can see, the race is on! Taro is caught, Lady Taminoi is furious and poor lord Ukyo is left in the lurch. This show is filled with fun and side-spliting laughter.

Director for life
Theatre has been a part of my life for over 40 years. I have had the pleasure of teaching many high school students during that time. Together, we have won...and lost, many UIL contests. My students are very special to me. They are the reason I came back to work after retiring. I am never more happy, more content, and more full-filled than when I'm working with them.
