What is it?
Some people want more from their cameras than just holiday snaps. One outlet for their creativity is a photomarathon.
A Photomarathon is a photography competition with a twist. Competitors meet at a pre-set start location. At the start of the competition, the first of the marathon's themes are announced by the marathon director. Competitors then work to take pictures that fit the themes. At a set time competitors then return to the competition base where they turn in their submissions for the first themes and receive the second set of themes.
It is not your physical condition that decides whether you win this type of competition, it is your sense of improvisation, fun and creativity. They are all about fun and give you a great chance to use your creativity and meet others interested in photography. Photomarathons have proved popular across Europe, with regular events in Wales, Denmark, Germany and Russia.
We will run two events consecutively, a 24 hour digital marathon and a 12 hour film marathon.
Prizes are given to the best series (in both the 24 hour and 12 hour competition) there will also be prizes for the best picture in each topic.
All funds raised will be used to support the sustainable development of the community of Sleat. Further information on the work of Sleat Community Trust can be found here www.sleatcommunitytrust.co.uk

What happens to the negatives and prints? All negatives are available for return to entrants after the exhibition. The printed entries are kept by Photomarathon.
