SBC "Street Mantra"Skinny Buddha Clothing was inspired from many influences, however the story and life teachings of Buddha had a great role in its creation. The novel "Siddhartha" by Herman Hesse encouraged me to learn more history about Buddhism and the life of Buddha and his path to enlightenment . The idea to name the clothing line Skinny Buddha Clothing was inspired from seeing various images of buddha mostly fat versions bearing gifts and a smile, however Buddha in character as I imagined seemed to have more of a serious presence of being. After studying more into Buddhism and understanding the meaning of various images of Buddha I begin thinking about a clothing line that was fashionable but had substance and purpose. The logo was inspired by these findings, a Buddha wearing shades..... at one with the omnipresence of light that signifies his own awareness of awakening, finding enlightenment, and achieving Nirvana was a perfect fit for the logo.

Email temporarily shut down due to racist messages...I'm deeply disturbed by comments left by supposedly Buddhist who are not... but are really racist who hate Black people which is ironic because most of these people skin is darker than mines... Message to those who left comments Buddha does not belong to one race or country. In every religion you have extremist Buddhism is no different . You suffer from ignorance and will live in ignorance. SBC represents love over hatred, the wicked will fall to their own devices.
