Martin's latest, unplublished work is now available online at www.simplyliv.wordpress.com.
Born in Farmington Hills, Michigan and raised in Central New York, Martin spent most of her formative years in Syracuse and the surrounding areas. She remembers beginning her writing quest in junior high school after the termination of a well-loved teacher, but she didn't take her own work seriously. It wasn't until Martin was a student in Mrs. Dafoe's creative writing class that she truly began to respect and honor the power and versimilitude of the written word. It was because of that class, and the guidence of several inspirational women, that she finally felt comfortable beginning her journey to discovering her own poetic voice.
Now, several years and two published volumes of poetry later, Martin still finds solace in syllables and embraces the relief of perfected phrases. She currently resides in Western New York, and graduated from Le Moyne College in 2010 with Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, Communications in Print Journalism, and a Minor in Creative Writing.
Through the Tunnel, 2009
In her first book, Letters from a Poets Dress Rehearsal, Olivia Martin began the path of exploration of the world around her, trying to understand the intricacies of the human experience. Through the Tunnel is a continuation of that discovery, only this time, she leads the reader on a more personal journey. Through the Tunnel exemplifies the constant expedition down the path of self-rediscovery, hoping at last, to see the star that lies at the end of every tunnel.
Available for purchase at PublishAmerica, Amazon.com, and several other retailers.
Letters From A Poet's Dress Rehearsal, 2005
In her first collection, Letters from a Poets Dress Rehearsal, Martin observes a variety of aspects of herself and her surroundings as a young adult living a fast-paced and seemingly unconventional independent lifestyle, finally speaking out and guided by the art of poetry.
