Analysis 1 Versace
This picture was an advertisement shot in my Grade 11 photography class. The message in this picture is to show the way advertisers take their pictures. The subject if positioned so that there is room for the text. The technical difficulties that I experienced with this shot were to get the lighting correct so my subject is well lit. The editing unique editing in this picture was the vignette that was added to this picture to emphasize the subject. The strongest point of the picture is the placement of the main subject which is not directly in the centre. The weakest point in this picture is that the cap of the bottle could have been placed a different way.
Puddle
This picture was taken in Grade 11 as a water drop shot. The purpose of this picture was to capture moving water. The technical difficulty that was faced in during the shoot was the timing. The timing required to be completely corresponding with splash of the water. There was no special editing technique, other than the sharpening of the water drops. The strongest point in this picture is the sharpness of the water drops and the foot of the model. The weakest point of this picture is that I believe there are too many water drops in that picture.
Toy Car
This picture was taken for the styles assignment. The purpose of this picture was to depict a mundane toy in a different light. The technical difficulty that I experienced during this shot was the placement of the toy car. I tried different angles but this particular angle looked the best. The special editing that was done in this picture was added the vignette to the picture. The strongest point of this picture is the sharpness of the picture. For example the writing on the picture is the sharpest part. The weakest part of this picture is that the rest of the picture is not as sharp as the centre.
Clip
This picture was taken as a macro shot. This is a hairclip that looked very interesting and I wanted to show the little details of this clip. There were not any technical difficulties that were experienced during the photo shoot of this object. The special editing that was done to this picture was the increase in the saturation and adding a vignette. The strongest part of the picture was the sharpness of this picture and the little details that are emphasized. In my opinion there is no weakest part in this picture.
Analysis 2 Calmshell
This picture was a part of a lighting experiment called a clam shell light. In this lighting style the purpose is to capture a womans face naturally. There were no particular technical difficulties experienced with this photo shoot, however capturing the right amount of light was a challenge. A vignette was added to this photograph and the picture was sharpened a little more. The strongest part of this picture is the subjects and their sharpness. Capturing equal amounts of sharpness in both of the subjects was difficult. The weakest part of this image is that the vignette could have been reduced.
Drops
This picture was taken in grade 12 as a water drop shot for a lighting experiment. The purpose was to try to take a photograph without strobe lights and only flashes. The technical difficulties that were experienced during this photo shoot were the common timing where the time had to match up to the timing of the water drops. There was no special editing done to this photograph. The strongest part of this photograph is the sharpness of the water drops. In my opinion, there is no weak element in this picture.
Lal Bali
This picture is part of my theme of Indian Jewellery. It is called Lal Bali because it means red earring. The purpose this earring is to show the kind of jewellery is worn at Indian functions. The only technical difficulty that occurred during this photo shoot was the unavailability of the studio. The special editing technique that was added to this picture was a layer mask around the earring to smoothen the skin. I also de-saturated the body of my model to increase emphasis on the earring. The strongest part of this image s the sharpness of the earring and its contrast against the skin. In my opinion, there is no weak element in this picture.
Hari Bali
This picture is of another earring that is part of my theme. It is called Hari Bali which means green earring. The purpose of this picture is to show a different type of jewellery that is worn at Indian functions. The technical difficulty was the unavailability of the studio. The special editing done to this picture was the de-saturation of the body of my model to increase emphasis on the earring. The strongest part of this image s the sharpness of the earring and its contrast against the skin. In my opinion, there is no weak element in this picture.
Analysis 3 Kundan Haar
This is called the White Necklace. The purpose of this photo was to show the details of the jewellery worn by Indian women. The technical difficulty was the presence of her grey shirt that was difficult to get rid of. Also the absence of a macro lens also had a great influence on the photo. The special editing that was done to this picture was the de-saturation of thee skin to match the other theme pictures. I also added a vignette. The strongest part of the picture is the sharpness of the necklace and its contrast against the skin. The weakest part of the picture was that I was unable to get rid of the t-shirt from the frame.
Lal Haar
This necklace matches the Lal Bali. This necklace is a significant necklace because it is given to a woman by her mother-in-law when she gets married. There were no particular technical difficulties experienced with this picture. The special editing was the de-saturation of the skin and the increase in the saturation of the necklace. The strongest part of the image was the colourful contrast against the pale skin. In my opinion, there is no weak element in this picture.
Payal
This picture if of a payal, which means anklet. The significance of this jewellery is that the first payal is bought for a woman by her moms maternal side. I wanted to express the customs of my country through the jewellery. The technical difficulty I experienced was lighting up the back of the ankle. The special editing once again was the de-saturation of the skin and adding a vignette. In my opinion, this picture is not a very strong picture. There are alot of weak points such as there is no contrast between the foot and the anklet.
Kangan
This picture is of kangan which are also given to a woman by her mother-in-law when the date of her wedding gets fixed. The technical difficulty that I experienced was the lighting up the bangles. It was highly difficult to shine enough light upon the kangan. The special editing once again was the de-saturation of the skin and increasing the saturation of the bangles to make them stand out. The strongest part of this picture is the contrast of the bangles against the hand and their sharpness. The weak part according to me is that the bangles are too dark. I think the composition could have been better if that area was lighter.
