FAQ Before Waxing Hair should be at least a 1/4 of an inch long. Before waxing you may take 2-4 ibuprofen at least 30 minutes prior to waxing service. Try not to consume alcohol or caffeine the day of your waxing service, as it increases sensitivity. Waxing can be done at any time, but try scheduling your appointment during the first two weeks after your cycle. Your body retains less fluid at this time, which means you will be more comfortable. Notify Esthetician if your taking any medication prescribed by a doctor such a Accutain or Retin A.After WaxingDo not touch waxed areas for 24 hours. Hands carry bacteria, even washed hands! Absolutely no sun and tanning bed exposure for at least 24 hours. Try not to take hot showers or vigorous exercise for at least 4 hours after waxing. Use a gentle exfoliate 24 hours after waxing to prevent ingrown hairs, bumping and skin irritation. How does waxing work? In the case of soft wax, a wax combination is spread thinly over the skin. A strip is pressed on the top and then ripped off with a quick movement removing the wax along with the hair and dead skin cells leaving the skin smooth. Hard waxes can be easily spread thinly over the skin, as they harden they trap the hair in the wax so it is removed by the roots when the wax is ripped offWhy is waxing better than other depilation forms?Because The method removes the hair at the root. When new hair grows back it feels softer and is more sparse.It is fast, and skin feels and looks softer than using any other depilation method.Wax depilation last longer. What is the effect of waxing on the skin? Will I be red for long?As dead skin cells are removed in this process the skin can feel quite smooth afterwards. The waxing action does cause the skin to sting and many find a soothing skin healing cream to be helpful afterwards. Some persons find the skin reacts with redness and bumps which disappear a few hours after waxing. Are there any health precautions to keep in mind with waxing? Some physicians do not recommend waxing for persons suffering from diabetes or who have varicose veins or poor circulation as they are more susceptible to infection. Users of Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Accutane are advised not to use waxing on the face as these medications tend to weaken the skin and tearing of the skin may occur when the wax is removed. Waxing should not be done on areas of skin affected by warts, pimples, moles or rashes or on skin that is irritated, chapped or suffering from sunburn. Never apply wax to peeling, broken skin or varicose veins. Do not sunbathe or tan for 24 hours after waxing.How long before hair reappears after waxing? Generally between 4 and 8 weeks. Less hair regrows and it is generally finer. Eventually some hair never regrows. Does wax promote ingrown hairs?No, wax prevents ingrown hairs, but some people have serious problems with ingrown hairs, so, in those cases it doesn't matter what kind of depilation you use. This varies from individual to individual. One way to prevent ingrown is to use a puff and wash briskly in the shower and/or towel off briskly after bathing to discourage ingrown. Based on getting other parts of your body waxed you can make a pretty good judgment as to whether ingrown may be problematic for you.What is Brazilian waxing? Brazilian waxing refers to hair removal around the pubic area and the anus. Prices at beauty salons may range anywhere from $60 to $100 or more. After underwear is removed an Esthetician asks the client to lie down and raise the legs. Talc may be sprinkled all over the bottom, anus and pubic areas. Wax is then spread over all these areas and then ripped off.The pain of course can be quite acute, however many feel it is worth it for the results. As a certain level of pain has to be endured with Brazilian waxing it makes sense to always follow up a session with a hair inhibitor. The hair will take longer to grow back until finally it stops growing completely and painful hair removal is no longer necessary.How long does the hair need to be to get a Brazilian or a Bikini wax? The hairs have to be about 1/4 of a inch long in order for the wax to grab and pull the hairs out so you have to let it grow out for your follow-up appointments. For the first wax, do trim a bit if you have long hair. Long hairs make the aesthetician's job a little harder. What does one wear for Brazilian waxing?During - Nothing from the waist down.After - Loose apparel instead of tight pants or jeans is recommended.
