BIOGRAPHY BIOGRAPHY
A 2004 painting graduate of Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, Swanson creates expressive and colourful contemporary artworks which translate a response to her surrounding environment.
Developed from an intensive research period of drawing, Swanson works in a variety of media, however specialises in painting and kilnformed glass.
Swanson's interest in glass began when she was awarded a six month Residency at the International Glass Studio, North Lands Creative Glass, based in her native Caithness. Further Masterclasses and Residencies, most notably a 2008 Residency at Broadfield House Glass Museum, West Midlands, strengthened her knowledge of and passion for the medium. Swanson is an experienced teacher and is available for workshops in painting, mixed media and glass.
An upbringing in rural Caithness has instilled a love for the portrayal of the textures, colours and shapes found within Landscape, however a recent move back to the city of Aberdeen has proved an exciting shift in inspiration.
