ARTIST STATEMENT
“I was an… artist who didn’t follow any rules. I didn’t shoot for money or fame or a career. I just shot what moved me.” - Jenny Lens.
Just like Ms. Lens, (one of my influences as a photographer) my photography is simple but meaningful. I don’t follow the rules because I honestly don’t know or care for the rules. Photography for me is a personal exploration of my life, what I see and how it makes me feel. Music had been my main drive and influence. I am driven by the rawness at these shows, the energy from not only the musicians, but also the crowds. I am inspired by self-portraits, because sometimes when inspiration comes; you are the only one around. I am inspired by life, and children and nature. They say art, or more so the making of art, is therapy. Well my art is not only that, but it’s my best friend, something I turn to when I’m sad, when I’m happy and when I want to feel.
