ABOUT PHI DELTA THETA
Locally
Phi Delta Theta came to the campus of Bowling State University in 1950. In the spring of 2009, the Chapter initiated its 1231st member. The Chapter has a strong tradition of leadership on campus and within the Greek commnity, having had 10 Interfraternity Council Presidents, the most of any fraternity in the history of BGSU. The brothers of the Ohio Kappa chapter can be found all over campus, participating in everything from intramural sports to community service projects. This past spring, the Chapter put on the first annual Phi Delt Paint Dogeball philanthropy event, which saw over 200 participants and raised over $1000! "Work hard, play harder!"
Nationally
Phi Delta Theta was started in 1848 by a group of six men at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. There are currently chapters all across the country and beyond, from New York to California, Florida to Canada. The Fraternity has long lived by the principles of friendship, sound learning, and moral rectitude. Phi Delt has attracted numerous famous members, including Lou Gehrig, Neil Armstrong, Tim Conway (a BGSU graduate), as well as numerous senators, athletes, and one President of the United States. Phi Delts do not settle for simply existing, they live life to the fullest.
