Scunthorpe & Districts Annual Presentation
This year here at Scunthorpe & District Motorsports Club, is going to be one of the busiest seasons we've ever had! As well as our usual meetings, including the national qualifier, we also have the BAS round 4 and the Ladies & Juniors Nationals 2010!
We have some fantastic days racing here at Blyton Airfield and we hope we exceed your expectations.
Here at SDMSC we are continuesly trying to promote autograss racing as a whole and we wish to provide a fast, adrenaline-filled weekends worth of racing.
Autograss is a non-contact motorsport, but with the speed and close nature of racing, there is always plenty of action happening!
Racing takes place on a grass oval, but by the first few races, it's just pure mud! It is around a quarter of a mile all round, with usually around 3-5 lap races with 5-8 lap finals.
It is a true family sport and you can start racing at the age of 12 in the junior class, then from 16 years onwards, into any of the adult classes. Check out history, for more information.
Weekends Racing Report.
L&J Nationals: What a weekend! There was plenty of competitive racing going on. With 333 drivers taking part. Spectators saw a fantastic drive from Scunthorpe member Clare Horner, after winning the class 7 final (from 6th to take the lead!) she went on to take the title of champion of champions.
Although for some it was smiles, for some it was sorrow as many finals were re-run due to incidents on track. Better luck next year & well done to all Champions!

Scunthorpes Current Track.
Scunthorpe & District Motorsports Club currently have their track on Blyton airfield which was once used in World War II, opening in 1942 and closing in 1954, it was an operational bomber with 2 concrete runways, one of which is now part of the SDMSC spectators area.
The Airfield was left with no real use until it became what we now know it as; Scunthorpe & District Motorsports CLub.
Many of the buildings that once made up Blyton Airfield still remain although abandoned and derelict.
