What the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks has been going on???
Hi all!
My last post was in May??? I did take a bit of a leave from the online world to focus on finishing strong in my studies. I just completed by B.S Business (concentration in Marketing)! College was a long and stressful road, but it's such an amazing feeling to be done. Now, I'm off to see what else life has to offer and take on more projects that I have been wanting to pursue (I have the time now!).
A few things...
1) I am in the process of updating all my sites (Facebook, MySpace, Blog, and Personal Website)
2) Starting my business (it will be in the Fashion field, it will be spectacular, and is what I will be focusing most on; more details to come)
3) Lingerie Line is put on hold for now... Various reasons I simply cannot get into at the moment
Thanks to all who actually took the time to read this! You guys are the best! There will be more updates on my Twitter and occassionally here on Facebook as I go along! So glad to be back :-)
XOXOXOXO,
Andrea

FACEBOOK
Gotta keep up with all the new networking sites! I have had a Facebook page for some time now But the ONLY reason why I had started one was to keep in touch with all my family and close friends that live all over the country. I re-opened up a MySpace account in order to connect with all of my fans, and although MySpace has been great... Well, lets just face it, MySpace is no longer hot s***! Its all about Facebook and Twitter now! There have been many people sending me friend requests on Facebook, but I am really not going to cross my family in with my fans (not that I dont love my fans!)
Anyhow, I finally made one! So please join me on that page.

I comment back on everyone's post
Thanks!

PATIENCE
This is probably one of the greatest virtues that I, unfortunately, lack. I'm not extremely impatient, or reckless if I don't get what I want at that very instant. But I do have the tendency to push things when they are not ready because I just cannot wait! Starting a business is definitely teaching me the importance and value of patience. Wrong launch dates and just pushing the wrong things at the wrong times can lead to disastrous situations! And as an upstart business that is the one thing you don't want to do! Countless hours of meetings, budget revisions, design revisions, general time and money, I'm not going to lie, gets me extremely antsy. All I can think of about half the time is "when is this thing just gonna take off already?!" and then I have to talk myself back down to "FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS" LOL! I can be such a nut! Perhaps, me finally starting my dream company is a double blessing in disguise; disguise #1 - simply, its just what I ALWAYS wanted to do, disguise #2 - I will master the art of PATIENCE.
Well, the color scheme, materials, designs, and dates have been finalized for the Rhea & Sov line. Plans are set in motion and this time I can/will wait for it to take off, this is something that I want/will get right! Patience isn't gonna be so bad...
Happy days here I come! Best to all!

A Little Support Goes a LONG Way. To my HUBBY, Thank you, I Love you...
I was raised in a very traditional Filipino, Roman-Catholic household. My parents raised me with the hopes that one day I would become a doctor, or at the very least something in the medical field, such as a Nurse. I happened to have, instead, the exact opposite type of passions and desires. I wanted to design, dance, and surround myself in a world of creativity! My mom and dad never stopped me from doing what I loved, but they still always had high expectations of me going to medical school and keep what I loved to do just as a hobby or recreational activity. Now that I am an adult I can understand that they just wanted the best for me - a stable job that brought in a solid income for me and my family. I appreciate it, but because I had always been deprived of following my heart and just going for my true passions it took me a while to really build up the courage to follow my dreams.
Then one year I moved out, went on my own, and explored what the world had to offer outside of Mom and Dad's nest. I met my husband and this was a part of my great revelation! He taught me that the only way to find out is to just go for it. More importantly, he made feel comfortable and... OK to have the passions that I had. The incredible amount of support that I got from him (and still get), just from this one person, was the most refreshing feeling I had, had in a while. I gained confidence and just "went for it"! As they always say - better late than never... Just a little support (in my case it was only coming from one person) goes a long way. So, if you have a friend, sibling, or loved one that seems lost, or unsure of what their call may be just be there for them, support them. You never know how much you're actually helping them.
Thank you, my dear love for helping me realize this. I will be forever grateful!

A Little Update On Rhea & Sov
As some of you may know, my best friend and I have started a line called, Rhea & Sov! After a few setbacks last year (I really despised 2009) we are ready to rock the fashion world this year!!! We will be launching our fabulous lingerie line later this year and have been prepping for it like madwomen. It's a lot of hard work and everything is really beginning to come together. My partner happens to live on the West Coast. So we are dealing with several major factors - 1. The time difference, 2. Getting together to plan everything, 3. Our already very crazy schedules. The one fabulous tool that has been an absolute Godsend is SKYPE! I cannot even begin to express how much help this video-conferencing tool has been. We can review designs, do research together, share documents, and just have meetings as if we were in the same room! It has been such a huge help. I just wanted to do a quick shout out to the inventors - You are AMAZING!
Anyhow, I realized that I'm really not going to have much of a life this year... But I'm completely OK with that because I KNOW that the work will pay off :-D This is our year... I can feel it!
Keep checking back or follow me on my Twitter for the latest updates.

Finding Home Sweet Home
For the past month or so, my hubby and I have been on a mission to find the perfect apartment. In Manhattan this can take months! We, of course, cannot afford a fancy penthouse... We are just part of the general population of New Yorkers looking for a cozy apartment somewhere big enough for two to move around without going crazy. In two days we have seen a total of 9 different places. Some were gorgeous and some were , naturally, disappointing. It's about your budget, getting your money's worth, and LOCATION! Location is very important.
After today I am very hopeful that we will find our wonderful soon! And we have an excellent broker!

Suicide & A Moment of Silence for Alexander McQueen
After hearing about the death of Alexander McQueen I was absolutely devastated... I dreamed of meeting this brilliant man one day, he was on my "People I Want to Meet" list! I kept asking myself why??? Why would he kill himself? Maybe it was the death of his mother a week prior? The stress? The Pressure? With the success, money, and fame he was still unhappy. So unhappy he,
in fact, ended his life.
Although I do not have pity on McQueens choice of hanging himself, I am, however, deeply saddened by the fact that there was no one there to comfort him or help him come to terms with his troubles. In addition, and more importantly, help him realize that even though he may have felt like there was nothing left to live for he had given millions of people new-found inspiration, joy, and beauty through his designs/creations. There was no note left at the scene, so we may never truly know the reason why he hung himself. All I know is, he made such an impact in the fashion world and he will be very truly missed...
It's natural for most humans to fear death because many of us
don't understand why it has to happen. But then there are the few who choose to die instantly through suicide. Perhaps it's the loss
of a loved one, feelings of hopelessness, uselessness, some form of misery... Suicide... I don't want to make this comparison, but it seems like it can be just as mysterious as love...
R.I.P Alexander McQueen may your brilliance shine just as brightly in your next life. Xoxo - Andrea

New Year's Resolutions... Do they really matter?
I can understand the concept behind people wanting to make them (I, myself, am no exception), but when I really get down to thinking about it I can't help but wonder why they are taken seriously at all. People want to start the New Year off right, re-invent themselves, or start with a clean slate. It is now a month into 2010, how many of those resolutions have we truly stuck to??? I can honestly say that I've stuck to about 3 of the 10 that I had jotted down - I feel that deserves a pat on the back! lol!
The skills, knowledge, and simple ability to start over require a great deal of independance and self-worth; this is all attained throughout our lifetime as we "live and learn". Instead of re-inventing try re-evaluating; take time to recognize what is causing that unnecessary drama in your life and rid yourself of them! Instead of wanting to start off with a clean slate embrace the mistake, learn from them, and move on. These types of situations happen 24/7, 365 days of the year...
I guess what I'm trying to get at it is... If there is a bad habit, something about your daily life that you want to change, or just need to get rid of go ahead and change/do it already! No need to wait for the New Year for that, it will be even better because there is no more time being wasted, you're doing it right away! Self-improvement should never have a start time or deadline :)
But hey, if it makes you feel better to make those New Year's Resolutions, or just get sheear enjoyment out of it that's totally fine. I'm definitely not against being happy! For me, my ultimate LIFE resolution is to just DO IT AND STICK TO IT!
What's the silliest New Year's Resolution you've had or heard of?
