Celebrate and Appreciate! The School Community Youth Collaborative is excited to host our Inaugural Jingle Bell Dash. The Jingle Bell Dash is a great way to celebrate family fun, holiday traditions, and most importantly raise funds to support SCYC programs. We will also have a supply drive at our host location for our educators. Helpful supplies include dry erase boards/ markers, paper, staples, etc. The dash is a fun and festive way to kickoff the holidays by celebrating and supporting others. Our inaugural theme for the Jingle Bell Dash is celebrating educators. Our teachers work very hard, and we want them to know that we as a community honor their commitment to education and appreicate their efforts. Participate individually! Recruit a team! Wear a festive costume! Raise money! We have an Elf Scurry for the kiddos! Don't forget to tie bells to your shoelaces. With every jingled step, a sound of "hurray" for all the hardworking steps our educators have taken and continue to take to benefit our children! Get ready to Jingle!

Event Schedule December 7, 2011 Last day to register for $15 (individual) or $12 (per team member, at least 4). You may register up to the event date, but register early to receive discounted registration fee!December 17, 2011 9:30am: Sign-in at Let It Grow Nursery and Gardent Market 10:00am: Run/ Walk begins 10:00am: Elf Scury for the kiddos! 10:30 - 12pm: Warm beverages, munchies, music, Celebrate!!!

Fundraising Ideas The School Community Youth Collaborative has some really amazing programs and events for our youth including High School Leadership Montezuma, Youth Leadership Council and the Teen Maze. Fundraising really helps keep these programs going as well as allow us to create new and positive resources for our youth. Here are some great fundraising ideas to help increase pledges and support for your walk.1. House Party: This a great way to get friends and family excited about helping you reach your goal.2. Corporate Matching Gift: Ask your company to match the amount of pledges you receive from your fellow co-workers.3. Your own personal friend Matching Gift: Ask a friend to see if they can get their company to match pledges.4. Corporate Sponsorship: Identify one or several companies and ask them directly about sponsorship (could be handy for teams)5. Bake Sale: 'Tis the season for bake sales I know, but it could be a great way to bring in more pledges6. "Extra Change In My Pocket" Box: Create little boxes for your friends and family to place on the dresser. At the end of the day, they can drop off that spare change in the box. You might be surprised at how quicly cents adds up!7. Social media/ Emails: Update your status, change your personal signature to something like, "I am participating in this awesome Jingle Bell Dash in support of community youth programs and teacher appreciation. Will you please donate to this wonderful cause?"8. Money Jars: Ask your favorite restaurant or local hangout if you can place a donation jar in a high traffic area.9. House Sit/ Pet Sit: Friends or family going away. Offer up your services in exchange for pledges.10. Game Night: Bust out the board games and have some friendly fun!11. Ask for the Right Amount: Note who you are asking for donations. Don't ask someone who you know can donate $100 for $10 and vice versa.12. Make Your Own Contribution First: This is a great way to suggest a donation amount.13. Honor someone! This event is about celebrating our amazing educators. Maybe you want to honor a teacher that has impacted you. Share this information with friends and family.14. Ask! Ask! Ask! Keep Asking!!!15. Remind. Remind. Remind. Remind? We are all very busy these days, and though we have many tools to keeps us constantly in the know, we tend to move on the very next thing and our day can get away. Sometimes friends and family just need to be reminded of what is you are doing.

Not only are you celebrating our great educators by tying bells to your laces and dashing in their honor, you can help support SCYC programs by gaining pledges of support for your participation. This can include friends, family, coworkers, employers, businesses, etc. We are asking each participant to strive for 10 pledges. See our Fundraising Ideas for some great ideas to help with this effort. Also, to the right, there is a sample fundraising letter that you could send out as well. Please also notice the pledge form, as well as the registration form. If you do not have access to a printer, please contact us for that information.
