SCEC Mission Statement:
As a student based organization, the Student Council for Exceptional Children is responsible for representing the University of Delaware through all of our actions and volunteering opportunities. Our mission is to improve the lives of children with or without exceptionalities through continual support and encouragement. With much commitment and determination, we are dedicated to helping others in the community as well as all over the world.

We write cards with encouraging messages to children who are extremely sick (many of them have terminal diseases). It takes all of ten minutes to write a sweet message, and you literally are making a child SMILE. All of our letters are sent to the child's home address or the hospital he/she is located. There will be bios on the children, so you can write something personal that they will enjoy reading (or have read to them). This is a great opportunity to impact the life of a child with something as simple as writing a short letter.
