As part of our research on perfumes, we interviewed employees working at Al Arabiya Al Oud Perfume Store at Rashid mall, Dammam Al Khobar.
Good evening! We are students of Dhahran Ahliyya School and we are participating in The International Cyberfair 2010 program. Our group is researching about perfumes in Saudi Arabia and we would like to ask you some questions.
Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Mamdooh Abd Al Fatah. I am the manager of Al Arabiya Al Oud Perfumes store at Rashid Mall.
Since how long have you been working here?
I'm basically from Egypt. I studied marketing there. I have been working with Al Arabiya Al Oud Perfumes since the time I came to Saudi Arabia. I felt that working here would increase my knowledge and it would also give me the opportunity to learn.

From where do you get the ingredients? Are they easy to find?
We import the ingredients from Southeast Asian countries like India, Indonesia, Malaysia.
How many employees do you have?
We have around 2000 employees in Saudi Arabia.
Do you invent new perfumes to target the younger generation or do you stick only to traditional aromas?
Well, we experiment, make changes and develop new fragrances. The perfumes we manufacture cater to all sections of society and loved and worn by all.
With increasing globalization, the market is flooded with new perfume manufacturers. What are you doing to withstand competition from new entrants?
We dont really feel threatened by new entrants probably because ours is the biggest and the most reputed perfume manufacturing company in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, we have a wide range of unique and special products.
Is there any special time of the year when there is a lot of demand for your products?
Yes, business peaks during holidays like Eid and during the summer vacation especially during the month of May when most weddings take place. I guess this is due to the tradition of using perfumes for brides and also as presents for guests.
Since how many years have you been in this business?
Last year, we completed 25 years! And this is our 26th year.
Do you have branches outside Saudi Arabia?
Yes, we have branches worldwide, in countries like England, France, Malaysia, Singapore. We will soon open one in the US. We have branches in all over in the Middle East.
At present we have 560 branches and within the next 3 years, we plan to expand to 1000 branches worldwide.
