The Leo Club of Colombo(Host), District 306 A1, Sri Lanka has been Serving the Community and Grooming Leaders Since 1969. Sponsored by the Lions Club of Colombo(Host), the Leo Club of Colombo(Host) is the longest standing Leo Club in Sri Lanka with 40 years of continuous service. Activities and projects carried out by the Leo Club of Colombo(Host) include Childcare, Elders, Educational and Leadership Development Projects, Sports Projects, PR Projects and so much more.
Initiated in 1957, the Leo movement is the youth arm of Lions Clubs International. Leo stands for Leadership, Experience, Opportunity and provides youth the opportunity for development and contribution, both individually and collectively, as responsible members of our community.

In the Beginning - Inauguration of the Leo Club of Colombo(Host)
A little over 39 years ago, a group of 17 young Leos were inducted into the Leo Club of Colombo(Host) by the then District Governor Lion Dr. Shelton Cabraal. The Clubs first Leo Advisor was Lion Shelton Abeysuriya. He too played an extremely vital role in forming the Leo Club.
These 17 Leos laid the foundation for the many generations of Leos that have passed through the annals of the Leo Club of Colombo(Host).
The Leo Club of Colombo(Host) has so far produced more than 06 District Presidents (Districts 306 A & 306 A1), 03 Multiple Presidents and a countless number of District Council Officers and Leo leaders. Hundreds of committed Leos have brought the Club to where it is today.
Past Presidents
Many dynamic leaders have ably led the Leo Club of Colombo (Host) to where it is today. From its humble beginnings to being one of the most formidable Leo Clubs in Sri Lanka and the World, these past presidents of the Leo Club have shed blood, sweat and tears for the betterment of the Leo Club as well as for the betterment of the community.
Out of all these leaders, Leos Dinal Jayamanne and Richard Ebell went on to become District President of the then Leo District 306 while Leos Mohan Burhan, Azeem Azwer, Shyana Wijayaratne, Shehan Kumar went on to become District President of Leo District 306 A. More recently, Leo Dhashanthie Gamalatge, Leo Ricky Simms and Leo Asitha Pinnaduwa served as District Presidents of 306 A1.
Leos Azeem Azwer, Shehan Kumar and Ricky Simms went a step further by being elected as the Multiple District President of Leo Multiple District 306, And
Leo Asitha Pinnaduwa went on to be the Chairperson for Leos for leoistic year 2009-2010 and 2011/12(Current) according to the prevailing information he is the only Leo who was invited to the Lions District Cabinet immediately after completing the tenure as Leo District President and Probably be the youngest District Chairperson for Leos ever produced by Lions District 306A1.
Our Achievements
The Leoistic year 2003/ 04 would undoubtedly be one of the best as one of the most outstanding years for the Leo Club of Colombo (Host). The Leos swept away most of the awards up for grabs at the 26th Annual Leo District Conference. This included major awards such as Most Outstanding Leo Club of District 306 A, the District Contest, and the award for the Best Project for Children.
In 2007/08 Leo Club of Colombo(Host) was announced as the Finalist for "Outstanding Leo Club" and the then president Leo Asitha Pinnaduwa was announced as the Finalist for "Outstanding Leo" by Lions International. Reaching the highest level for a club.
During 2005 to 2010 the club has been dominating the District by becoming the most outstanding Leo Club in District under the leadership of Leo Ashan Kumar, Leo Ricky Simms, Asitha Pinnaduwa and
Leo Nirupa Mohan while also winning countless other awards in the District and Multipls District Conferences.

Our Say
The Leo Club of Colombo(Host)s monthly newsletter had its beginnings in the Leoistic year of 1976/77. Since then, many editors have penned their thoughts and comments and Our Say has helped the Leo Club with its communications with the Club members as well as with the Leo District Council.
Leo Shyana Wijayaratne (in 2000/01), Leo Shehan Kumar (in 2002/03), Leo Adhil Mohideen (2005/06), Leo Nadeeka Gajanayake (2006/07) and Leo Sadhana Mohan (2009/10) have been recognized as the Most Outstanding Bulletin Editor in Leo District 306 A and A1 for their efforts with the publishing of Our Say. Today Our Say is certainly the oldest Leo Newsletter in Sri Lanka!
