The sixth grade students will soon participate in a residential outdoor education program. Outdoor education is the use of the out-of-doors to facilitate the total education of children through experiences that can be easily returned to the classroom. Based on the premise that all students should understand our ultimate dependence upon the natural enfironment, Nature's Classroom becomes an extension of the classroom. Teachers and Students will use the out-of-doors as a laboratory in which to study and explore our natural environment. Each person participates in such activities as stream study, orienteering, Native American games, weather, geology, and many more.
Children are supervised 24 hours a day. In addition to the chaperones from school, there is a Nature's Classroom staff on hand consisting of a director and 6-12 environmental teachers.
In the event of accident or illness requiring hopitalization or a doctor's care, the camper or camper's family insurance becomes the primary coverage and Nature's Classroom's coverage is secondary. If the camper is uninsured, Nature's Classroom coverage becomes the primary coverage.
It is not necessary to have a physical for your child to participate, but you must complete and sign a Nature's Classroom health form so we may be aware of your child's particular health needs.
