I am the product of my schizophrenic generation. I grew up with comic books and cartoons and in my head, it's still very much a perpetual Saturday morning broadcast in horrifying technicolor. My Father provided a steady soundtrack of 60's psychedelic rock during my early years of drawing and introduced me to R. Crumb at a young age, which probably only added to the damage embodied in the "adult" me.
I play guitar and sing in a sludgy metal band called The great Sabatini and spend increasing amounts of time each year out on the road with them. For the last ten+ years I've been steeped in the DIY experience, and consequently I have done a lot of album art/layouts, posters, shirt designs, logos and other band related art for my bands and others in the underground.
Like my taste in music, my influences in regards to art are quite varied and span a large time-line. Some of the artists that continue to shape my view and art are: The aforementioned Crumb, Art Spiegelman, Albrecht Durer, Francisco Goya, Ivan Brunetti, French poster artists like Beardsley and Mucha, Salvador Dali, Joe Coleman, Al Jaffee and MAD Magazine in general, M.C. Escher, Raymond Pettibon, Jack Kirby, Frank Miller, Chris Ware, Chuck Jones and the WB cartoons, Hanna Barbera, John K and Spumco, Charles Schultz, Bill Watterson, Gary Larson, H. Bosch, Frank Frazetta, Michael R. Whelan, John Dyer Baizley and Florian Bertmer, to name but a few.
I am always trying to expand my visual repertoire. I experiment a lot with different techniques, mediums and styles, though I hope that some common thread of Wurmzilla style will be evident in any piece that I've worked on. I try to be as flexible as possible with my abilities, for my own amusement and for the benefit of any potential client. Please contact me for any illustrative needs you may have, large or small.
