Today is the happiest day of my life. Guess what? I just got married! That means I am going to leave the SINGLE CLUB forever.
I was to be married to a girl called Rukmani. Her father was the head of a village, which meant that she had a good life. The only reason she was married to me was because they ran out of a rich dowry. After I arrived at their house, I became happier. Because my soon to be wife was beautiful. I led her onto the bullock cart as she waved goodbye to her parents. I think she was afraid because there were tears falling from her eyes. I told her that this might happen to anybody, and told her to dry her eyes. In fact, any girl so young and naive would cry when they leave their loved ones and their homes.
Then we reached our hut. After a long journey, we were all tired. When she saw our hut she suddenly kneeled down. She looked tired, but what caught my attention most was that she looked shocked. I could understand that because our hut, built out of my own hands, is lowly and small compared to her father's house.
"Do not worry," I told her. I showed her the rich green fields and told her about the treasures our paddies would eventually grow into. After a while, she regained her composure and for a moment, she looked like she was wiser beyond her young age.
I hope we can live happily together.
