Known for her bold and whimsical style, Jane Salley has been creating art for as long as she can remember. At an early age she was fascinated with fashion and decorating and would spend countless hours playing dress-up and experimenting with make-up and jewelry. It was not uncommon for her to attend elementary school adorned with jewelry she had painted on herself.
Although she did not pursue a full time career as an artist, Jane always found an outlet for her creative energies while raising two girls as a single parent. Whether it was sewing, cooking or redecorating a childs room, she kept her artistic spirit alive.
In recent years Jane has had the time to once again follow her passion to create beautiful things. Returning to her love of personal adornment she became a Precious Metal Clay instructor, receiving her PMC Certification under the direction of Master Jeweler Tim McCreight. Her PMC creations were recently exhibited at the Riverside Art Museum in Riverside, California. In addition, she was recently invited to become a member of the Design Team for Jewelry Artist Susan Lenart-Kazmer. Her contributions can be viewed at www.objectsandelement.com.
While her main focus these days is jewelry, her fashions can be seen in Altered Couture and Haute Handbags Magazines. Jane also enjoys teaching art to others and fanning the creative spark she believes is in everyone.
Although Jane has lived most of her life in California, she now shares her creative life with her husband, Richard, and her Art Dog DaeTzi in Santa Fe NM.
