"Shadows of our past surround us and are often forgotten, left to rot in front of our eyes, never being appreciated with any significant grandeur. I’m drawn to the leftovers of a destructive power and the hidden beauty that lies within them.
I gather my imagery through all forms of the media, confronting and analysing it through drawing techniques that are unlike my paintings. The drawings enable me to grasp the composition, texture and forms that ultimately allow me to paint from memory.
I’m not only extracting from a world perspective, but a very personal one; uncovering subconscious thoughts; using the canvas as a place where I can make sense of personnel madness. The canvas is a place that I alone can be the creator and destroyer, where I can be in complete control. "
