about me
Originally from Payette, Idaho and now living in Mammoth Lakes, California, Rochelle grew up with an older brother who would race her to the bus stop every morning. She rarely won the morning sprint, but she did find a passion for giving her all.
Although Rochelle never did excel at the 400m bus stop sprint, she did excel in high school track and cross country, collecting 13 Idaho State Championship Titles in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m and cross country and also winning the now prestigious Bob Firman Invitational. Rochelle still holds several age group and high school records in Idaho.
Rochelle continued her running career at the University of Nevada, Reno where a few of her track records held for nearly 12 years. While there she was also the Big West Conference Champion for Cross Country and team captain.
Shortly after ending her college career, Rochelle moved to Mammoth Lakes with her to be husband Bill Ossofsky. It would be 12 years before Rochelle would race competitively again.
In 2007 Rochelle and her husband Bill made a decision to close the doors to Rochelles' successful consulting business so that they could insure that her father-in-law was receiving proper end of life care. This decision would help Rochelle and Bill reprioritize health and fitness as a top focus in their lives. It was about this time a friend was competing in the Xterra National Championship and after attending the event and cheering on her friend the competitive atmospheres had re-inspired Rochelle. Despite the fact that Rochelle had never done a triathlon, needed to lose a few pounds and did not know how to swim, Rochelle decided that she was going to become a professional triathlete.
Rochelle's first olympic distance triathlon was the 2008 Wildflower where she raced conservatively and placed 8th overall woman, with a top 3 bike and run. Her first half distance race was Boise 70.3 where she placed 4th in her age group and qualified for the Foster Grant 70.3 World Championship where she placed 4th in her age group and 13th amateur.
In 2009 Rochelle was the Overall Amateur Champion at the Boulder 5430 placing 8th amongst a strong professional field and Overall Amateur Champion at the Redman Halfmax USAT Long Course National Championship.
Rochelle's first professional race will be in 2010 where she will be focusing on winning an Ironman 70.3 Event and running a personal best half marathon in the 2009-2010 road racing season.
