Since its inception, Synergie has developed its customer base and areas of activity, it has established new business activities, developed existing ones, structured acquisitions, trade sales and conducted due diligence on behalf of investors.
In addition to its five principal directors, Synergie has a wide network of industry specialists who will act on Synergie's behalf as Associates. Synergie also has strong affiliations with the invesment community.
Synergie's clients are based throughout the UK, and include international private and plc companies
BACKGROUND BACKGROUND
Synergie Business Limited was founded in 2002 by 2 experienced industrialists, who had already operated at CEO/Chairman level, to work with small to mid cap companies by providing board expertise and strategic advice. They have thorough knowledge of the investor community and an extensive network of contacts. The core team has now grown to 6 and Synergie operates a totally flat structure with minimum overheads.
MODUS OPERANDI
Synergie Business Limited spends significant effort networking to identify vibrant and exciting innovative companies, usually in the technology or IT spheres, who have promising products or services but require sound strategic advice to achieve strong market share and subsequently an exit beneficial to their founders and shareholders.
Synergies business model is to work with companies who have high potential for growth and where Synergie can invest and take a board position (usually Non-Executive Chairman) to influence a positive outcome for shareholders.
The role adopted is far in excess of solely managing the Board; we sit between the management and its major investors and therefore we are able to take an independent and objective view; we assist in fund raising and ultimately achieving an exit which delivers maximum value for all shareholders; we also provide mentoring and, where appropriate, coaching. Our strength lies in developing a sound forward strategy and then ensuring that it is delivered. We are acutely aware that in small companies everyone, executive or non-executive, needs to be involved and add value and we do not shy from this responsibility. Our approach is non confrontational but emphasises the importance of strong teamwork a feature of most successful organisations.
Uniquely, when one member of Synergie is on a Board it gives access to the other 5 members, all of whom are very experienced but bring differing market segment and skill sets to bear on a problem. It is the sum of the total that provides the real value added benefit and by investing in companies with our own funds, it is absolutely clear that we take a very close and personal interest ensuring delivery of the business plan and its financial objectives.
SUCCESS STORIES
Working with a UK PE House and IT company to create a strategy for growth which was signed off by all parties, the company was able to deliver a 60% increase in revenue over 20 months which attracted a US trade buyer resulting in a 5 times return on investment. Working with a major Investment bank and sitting on the Supervisory Board of a European Telecoms Company by restructuring from Voice only to Voice, Data and Broadband, the business was transformed over 3 years and sold to a major international PE House achieving a 4 times return on investment. Working with a PE House and manufacturing company based in the Midlands, a strategy was implemented to increase its export business resulting in increased revenue and profit which attracted interest from a major UK Bank who backed the management for a secondary buy out, delivering a 3 times return on investment.
