Ridgway Main Street Program
The Main Street program is a comprehensive, community-based revitalization approach, developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 1980.
The program follows a four-point approach, outlined below.
About The Ridgway Main Street Manager, Michelle Bogacki
Michelle is a lifelong resident of Ridgway. Even as a youth she was always active in the community. Her participation in Girl Scouts initially sparked her passion for volunteering.
Michelle became the promotion chair for the previous Main Street Manager, Rick Viglione, at the beginning of the program. In March of 2009 she acquired the position of Manager herself.
Within the program, she has developed a core of volunteers through youth programs, seniors and individuals looking for general community service hours. These volunteers assist merchants, non-profits and the borough with general maintenance. The goal is to achieve an appealing, safe, clean and green environment for downtown Ridgway.
Michelle was part of the Ridgway-Elk County Chamber of Commerce board for 16 years, and is now involved through the Main Street Program.
Michelle has also been a part of the Ridgway Heritage Council from their very beginning. The Heritage Council was a primary founder of the Main Street Program.
Also currently:
YMCA Board President
Ridgway Ambulance Corp Secretary
Advisory Board to Community Education Council
Advisory Chair to Leadership Elk County
PA Wilds Planning Team board of directors
Elk County Marcellus Shale task force
Comprehensive Economic Development strategy board, through the North Central Regional Economic Development Commission
In her (very rare) free time, Michelle's hobbies include gardening, canoeing, camping, biking, hiking and fishing. All of those "backyard activities", as she says, are what kept her here in the area.
