About Us
The excitement begins when we arrive in our 1931 Chevrolet sedan setting the stage for great fun. You will see that our band creates an eye catching appearance as well. The eight-piece band, including our torch song singer, plays music suitable for dancing as well as traditional New Orleans Jazz music such as "Basin Street Blues" and everybody's favorite, "When the Saints go Marching in".The Royal Garden Dixieland Band is now booking engagements for your special event, Great Gatsby Roaring 20s Party, fundraiser, wedding, festival, or other fantastic event where only the best will do. Were available for one, two or three sets to suit your needs, and we can also provide audience participation gags and contests just for fun.The History Behind Our Name:The Royal Garden was the legendary South Side Chicago dance hall where Bix Beiderbecke came with his Paul Whiteman Band buddies to listen in awe to King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band. Chicago became the focal point for jazz in the early 1920s when New Orleans musicians found their way north after clubs in the Storyville area of New Orleans were closed. Louis Armstrong called this home too. Now, we bring you this rich heritage of Dixieland music for your listening and dancing enjoyment.
