Monday, September 19BIBLE LESSON PLANSLesson: Sing a Song. Teach children the memory verse by using the scripture memory section in additional elements. Use setting the story to set the stage for what they are learning about today. Read the childen the story of how Abraham and Sarah were given their son Isaac and how Abraham sacrificed an animal to God for thanks for his son. Review the story by asking the review questions. Complete the workbook page. DAILY LESSON PLANS:Pre-write D: Review the letter D and the sound it makes, using the alphabet chart, teacher card for D, and picture cards. Demonstrate how to write the letters, using 2 fingers to draw the letters in the air, saying the letters name as you do. Have the children draw the letters in the air with 2 fingers and say the letters name as well. Practice writing the letters on the floor or a table with 2 fingers. Pass out the D pre-writing paper. Have the children write their names at the top of the page, then have them practice writing the letters.Meet the Dinosaurs: Show the children the book. Ask them what they see on the front cover. What do they think the book will be about. Read the title of the book to them. What do they know about dinosaurs. Have them share any information that they know. Explain that this is a non fiction book which means it doesn't have a pretend story in it. Instead it has a lot of pictures and words about a topic and the topic of this book is dinosaurs. That means this book is going to have pictures, words, and labels about different kinds of dinosaurs. Tell them that a dinosaur is a prehistoric reptile that lived on Earth a long time before there were people. You may need to explain what prehistoric is as well as give an example of a reptile. Do a quick picture walk through the book. show them the pages in the book and have them tell you what they see in the pictures and what might be happening. Read the story to the children. Ask them what their favorite part or page was in the book and why they liked it.Dinosaus Swamp: Place 2 long strips of masking tape on the floor, parallel to each other, about 9-12 inches apart. This will be the swamp. Have them pretend the swamp is filled with hungry meat-eating dinosaurs. Explain to them that their job is to jump over the swamp trying hard not to land in the dinosaur infested water. After each successful leap across the dinosaur swamp, move the pieces of tape or yardsticks a little bit father apart. Have them continue leaping across the swamp until it is too far to jump. Dinosaurs: Share facts about the Earth a long time ago, about dinosaur eggs. Be sure and show the children the different backgrounds in the book Meet the Dinosaurs. Explain to the children that sometimes dinosaurs laid their eggs in nests and sometimes they just laid them on the ground. Nobody knows for sure what color dinosaur eggs were. Pass out the egg paper. Explain to the children that their egg isn't even as big as the biggest eggs ever found and they are going to decorate it the way they think dinosaur eggs might have looked. Give the children time to color, paint or decorate the dinosaur egg. Allow time to dry. Then have children cut out the egg. Be sure they write their name's on the back.SPANISH LESSON PLANS:Sing the hello and goodbye songs. Review the colors we have learned so far. Teach the Spanish word for green and work through the pages with the children.Tuesday, September 20BIBLE LESSON PLANS:Sing a song. Review the memory verse. Use setting the stage the introduce the story. REad the story to the children about how God asked to sacrifice his only son to test Abraham to see if He loved God more than His gifts. Use review questions to review the story. DAILY LESSON PLANS:Is it 1 or 2?: Pre-cut the picture cards. Pre-cut children picture cards. Place the question strip on the table so that all children can see. Place the 1 on the left under the question and the 2 on the right under the question. Place the cards in a pile beside the question. Take a teacher picture car and ask if it is a 1 or a 2? have the children count the pictures and tell you how many pictures there are. Place the card under the 1or 2 depending on the answer. Continue until all of the teacher cards have been placed under the appropriate answer. Pass out the children copy of the sorting page and the picture cards. Have the children do the activity on their own. Rereading book: Point to some or all of these important book parts and have the children name them; front cover, back cover, titile, pictures, and the words. Ask them to help you read the book. Give them time to look at the pictures to help remind them of what the words say.Dinosaurs: Show the children the picture on page 32 in Meet the Dinosaurs. Explain that there were lots of different kinds of dinosaurs. Each dinosaur had things about them that made them different from all the rest. They looked different. They were different sizes, they ate different things, and they moved differently. Share facts about the dinosaur sizes and anything else you feel is necessary. Choose a couple of different dinosaurs in the book. Have the children talk about how each of them may have moved around. They could stomp, jump, run, leap, crawl, waddle, walk, et. Have the children pretend to be different dinosaurs and move around the room acting like different dinosaurs.Measuring a dinosaur: Tell the children that today, they are going to compare themselves to dinosaurs. Show the children the yardstick and explain that you are going to use it to measure the lengths of some of the different dinosaurs. As you measure, have the children help you count out how many times the yardstick is used. Measure out some different dinosaur lengths and mark either the beginning and end or the entire length with masking tape. have the children compare themselves to the different lengths. You could even have several children lay down head to toe and see how many children long some of these dinosaurs were.Opposites: talk about how big and small are opposite of each other. Discuss other opposites. Have the children do some activities using some of the opposites. Wednesday, September 21BIBLE LESSON PLANS:Sing a song. Review bible memory verse. Use setting the story to introduce the story. Read the story to the children of how God provided a sacrifice for Abraham because he was willing to sacrifice his only son. Use the review questions to review the story. Complete the workbook page.DAILY LESSON PLANS:Learning the Letters: Point to the letter B on the alphabet chart and ask the children what letters are they. What starts with the letter b? What sound does it make? Pass out the b and allow the children to look at and handle them. Invite them to tell you what they notice about the letters. Have the children write their names somewhere on the b. Have the children use 2 fingers to practice tracing over the letters b. Have them spread glue around the inside of the b. then have them sprinkle the variety of beans into the glue. Allow time to dry.Clapping Sounds: Explain to the children that you are going to say some words that start with the letter b. While you are saying them you are going to clap the beats in the words. Ask them to repeat the word with the claps. Say the b words while clapping each beat. Have the children repeat the word, clapping each beat. Pre-write B: Review the letter B and the sound it makes, using the alphabet chart, teacher card for B, and the picture cards. Demonstrate how the write the letters using 2 fingers to draw the letters in the air, saying the name as you do so. Have the children copy what you do. Practice writing the letters on the floor or a table with 2 fingers. Have the children trace their names at the top of the page. Then have the children practice writing the letters on the pre-writing papers.Rereading book: Have the children read the book to you by having them look at the pictures and tell you what is happening before you read each page.Dinosaurs: Show the children the picture on page 32 of Meet the Dinosaurs. Explain that there were lots and lots of different kinds of dinosaurs. EAch dinosaur had things about them that made them different from all the rest. They looked different, they were different sizes, they ate different things, and they moved differently. Share facts about the dinosaur sizes, their number of legs, and their speed. Be sure and show the children the different dinosaurs in the book. Talk about how many legs the dinosaurs have and whether or not they think that the dinosaur would move slowly or quickly. Pass out the semi-circle and have the children write their names on the back. Have the children count the 4 small rectangles and glue them along the straight edge to make legs. Pass out the longer rectangle and the oval to make the neck and head. Pass out the white circle. Have them use a black marker to make a dot in the middle and have them glue it on to make the eye. Pass out the long triangle and have them glue it on the make the tail. HAve them use markers to make a mouth, nose, and any other details they feel are necessary.YOGA LESSON PLANS:Lesson: Variety of yoga posesThursday, September 22BIBLE LESSON PLANS: Lesson: Use a candy bar to help your students understand the concept of giving an offering. Divide your class into pairs, providing one student in each pair a candy bar. Have that student give the entire candy bar to his partner. Instruct the recipient to break the candy bar in half and give a part back to his friend. Even though the recipient would like to have kept the whole thing, sharing a portion is a way to show love back to his friend. Explain that this is a picture of what giving an offering is all about. God gives us good things, and we, in turn, show our love by giving part of what we have received back to Him. Review memory verse. Sing a songDAILY LESSON PLANS:Picture Cards: Ask if they remember what letter they have been learning about. See if they can find the letter b on the alphabet chart. Explain that you have some cards that have pictures that start with the letter b. Show the children the picture cards one at a time. Have them help you identify the picture. Mix up the cards and have them rename the picture cards. Ask if they can think of any other words that start with the letter b.ASL for B: Show them the letter card and ask if they see anything different about it when compared to the alphabet chart. Show them how to make a b in ASL. Have them practice making the sign and saying the letter's name b. Sing Where is b and do the actions.Rereading book: While you are reading, have the children talk about what they notice about the pictures, what they are learning from the pages, what is their favorite part and why.Dinosaurs: Share dinosaur facts about their teeth, what they ate, and anything else you feel is necessary. Be sure to show the children the different dinosaurs in the book Meet the Dinosaurs. Talk about the teeth the dinosaurs have and whether or not they think that the dinosaur would eat meat or plants. Pre-punch the dinosaur pieces. Pre-cut the white strip into triangles to make the teeth. Pass out the big circle and have the children write their names on the back. Passout the 2 longer rectangles and have them glue them on the circle to make the legs. Pass out the fatter triangle and have them glue it on the tip of the circle to make the neck. Pass out the 2 semi-circles and have them glue the two pieces on to make the head with a mouth that is opened. Pass out the shorter 2 rectangles and have them glue them on as arms. Pass out the skinny triangle and have them glue it on to make the tail. pass out the 2 white circles. With a black marker or crayon, have them draw black dots in the middle and have themglue them on to make eyes. Pass out the white strip. Have the children cut out triangles and glue them on inisde the opened mouth to make the teeth. Have them use markers to draw claws on the arms and legs and any other details they feel are necessary.ASL LESSON PLANS: sing the hello song. Review the alphabet song. Review the song for manners. Teach the signs for come, dance, go, jump, roll, run, sit, stand, stop, walk. Song- Jump, Jump, Jump to my Lou pg 14 or sign and learn. Use the different actions they just learned. Have the children sign the words and do the actions as well. End with good-bye song.Friday, September 23BIBLE LESSON PLANS:Lesson: Sing a song. Have children say bible memory verse. Allow children to watch the DVD of Abraham and Isaac.DAILY LESSON PLANS:Math Manipulatives: Sort the manipulative cards by size. Set aside the small and large cards for matching sets activity. Lay out the medium size cards on the table. Discuss what pictures are and how they can sort the apple cards into piles. Have them do so. Estimate how many are in each pile. What makes you think so? Count each pile to confirm the estimations. Discuss if one pile has more, less or are they equal. Use the pictures to create the A-b pattern. Gather up the cards and place in the baggie. Lay out the large cards with the dinosaurs on the table. Place the number cards in a pile face down and draw 1 card from the pile and say the number. Locate the matching set of dinosaurs and label it with the appropriate numberal. After all the cards have been matched up, place the matching sets in number order. Have the chldren refer to the number cart if necessary. ASL Review: Show them the letter and number cards with the ASL signs on them. Remind them how to make the A, D, B and 1 and 2. Have them practice making the sign for numbers 1 and 2 by counting to two and showing the signs as they count. Review the sounds the letters make. Have them practice making the sign, saying the letter's name and then saying the letter's sound. Say a word. Children repeat the word and then say the letter the word starts with. Children make the ASL sign for the letter. Dinosaurs: Share dinosaur facts about the other features like horns, spikes, claws, and anything else you feel is necessary and appropriate. Be sure and show the children the different dinosaurs in the book Meet the Dinosaurs. Talk about other features the dinosaurs had and how they might have used them. Pass out the body and have the children write their names on the back. Pass out the semi-circle and have the children glue it on to make the head. Pass out the tail and have them glue it on the other end. Pass out the 4 rectangles and glue them along the straight edge to make the legs. Have them use a black marker to make a dot for the eye.
