DECIDE TO BELIEVE

DECEMBER 8, 2010There are times in life when you will have to decide to Believe. There will be nothing you can see that will give you hope. The situation will seem overwhelming and too much for you to handle. You will feel impending doom and despair. It will be hard to keep your cool and focus. Fears will run through your mind day and night. You will feel alone with no one to rescue you. You will think that you have lost your way. Feelings of failure will constantly taunt you. Stress will stand right next to you and harass you. When the noise gets really loud around you, just close your eyes, be still and know that God sees you. He hears you. God is fully aware of your circumstances. God cares for you. You are His child. His Power and Love are much greater than the crisis you face. Believe in God. Pray to Him in the name of his Son--Jesus. Watch the miracle happen. Allow the Spirit of God to comfort you, help you and lead you. Let Him do what only He can do. There is a way out. You will overcome. Forget who you are and concentrate on the Word of God. Let your feelings go their own way. Be separated from them. Only speak what the Word tells you to speak. Believe that You can do All Things through Christ. Believe that God will supply All your needs according to His Riches in Glory. Believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. Believe that He can resurrect your dead situation also. Believe that you will see his Goodness in the midst of your calamity. Believe that your trouble has an expiration date. Did you really determine how big and how tall you would be? Did you really plan your whole life from A to Z? Did you really feed yourself and provide all your needs? Did you really choose your neighborhood and the people who’d live on your street? Did you really give your loved ones the instructions to care for you? Did you really equip them with the resources and strength to make it through? Did you really tell the government what laws to keep or throw away? Did you really determine what events would happen on everyday? Did you really teach all the teachers and give them their degrees? Did you really make your body invincible and free from all disease? Did you really hold it together and keep yourself from stressing? Did you really live the perfect life and deserve every blessing? Did you really make the call for who would live and who would die? Did you really have so much strength, that you never had to cry? Did you really pull yourself up by your bootstraps, strictly on your own terms? If you did my friend, we’re praying for you. The Race Trap

DECEMBER 1, 2010Do not see Jesus through the lens of black and white. He was neither. If you choose to do so, you will miss who He is. You will not be able to receive fully, all that Jesus has done for you. Race is a trap used by the enemy, time and time again, to stifle and divide people. In American culture, race has maintained a level of importance, which is quite childish. Your skin color is just that-- your skin color. It has no bearing on what you are able to do. Just as you should not look at Jesus through the black and white lens, you should not look at yourself or others through the black and white lens. It is a waste of time. Furthermore, the black and white lens does not make room for God--God who made all and is over all. Psalm 139:13-18 (New Living Translation)13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body  and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!  Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,  as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born.  Every day of my life was recorded in your book.  Every moment was laid out  before a single day had passed.17 How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.  They cannot be numbered! 18 I can’t even count them;  they outnumber the grains of sand!  And when I wake up,  you are still with me!

YOUR DISADVANTAGE IS YOUR ADVANTAGE

In overcoming this 'disadvantage' you search for other ways of doing things. You have to be creative and resourceful. You are more alert, humble, and are wiser because of the 'disadvantage'. THE BEAUTY OF SLOW

NOVEMBER 12, 2010In our society we are accustomed to getting things faster than ever before. Whether it’s food, information by way of the internet, music, news through media, email, transportation, 5 min exercise regiments, get rich quick programs, wealth or careers, we are not interested in waiting. This fact has caused many of us to be impatient. If there is even a possibility of “having to wait”, we start looking for another way of getting what we want. Many times we shun the idea of “process”. We neglect to prepare, to study, and to examine. We sacrifice long term benefits for short term gains. We want to see results right away. We are afraid that if a goal takes a significant amount of time to reach, we must be doing something wrong. We are easily discouraged if we have to adjust and make changes to our plans. We fall into the trap of believing that worthwhile dreams happen instantly. My friend, quality takes time. Contrary to popular belief, many of the best things in life come as a result of patience. God has set it up this way. Look throughout the universe, and you will find this to be true. Any structure, resource or living organism that has lasted over time, was able to do so through a lengthy and detailed process. In your life there will be situations and desires which will require you to wait. You will have to use patience and faith in order to get the results you truly want. When you are striving for the extraordinary, you will have to master “the beauty of slow”. Adversity will come. This is when you find out if what you have, is really of value. This is when quality and character are tested and proven. Many victories are achieved through discipline and timing. Many failures happen because of doubt and impatience. Ask yourself these questions. “How bad do I want it? Am I willing to wait for it? Am I willing to take the necessary steps in order to get it? Am I thinking short term or long term? NOVEMBER 7, 2010There is only one you. The brilliance of God is that he never creates an exact copy. Never. This is true for every blade of grass, every grain of sand, the stars in the sky, clouds, planets, galaxies, mountains, lakes, oceans, seas, animals on land or in water, plants, bacteria, and human beings. Every living thing has unique characteristics and traits which separate it from others. Even when there are striking similarities, there will always be something that is slightly different. This truth is evident with identical twins. When you take the time to look close enough, you will see their differences. The point is, you are an original. Do not compare yourself to anyone else. Do not measure your life based on the life of another person. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Never envy another person. We were all born with a purpose. Each of us has a unique set of circumstances, and a path that was designed with a specific intent. Ask God to reveal to you “the beauty of you”. . .He is your CREATOR. He also is the ALPHA and the OMEGA (beginning and end). Appreciate how special and how intricate He made you. All of your experiences have helped shape you into who you are. There will never be another YOU. Use what you got. Be free. NOVEMBER 1, 2010Many times we cheer for our favorite sports team to win the championship. We faithfully support and encourage them to win. We invest our time, energy, effort and emotion into routing for their victory. During this process we often lose sight of our own personal goals. We lose focus of what we once reached for. We neglect to take the necessary steps that will lead to our victory. As much fun as we have supporting someone else, there is nothing more gratifying than to set a personal goal and then attain it. What I’m trying to say is, “You must win your championship”. No one can do it for you. No one cares about Your Championship as much as you do. No one will put in the effort that you will. You need to make the necessary sacrifices. You’ve been through your regular season. You fought hard to make it to the playoffs. Now you have to get your championship. You owe it to yourself. You need to do it because God has blessed you with the ability and the opportunity. It’s time. Talk is just talk. Your actions will take you to the next level. Your actions will bring Your Personal Championship to reality. Are you ready? Go get it. Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. The Missing Link

1. Is it possible to be pleasing to God without having the Holy Spirit living inside of me? 2. Can I overcome sin without the Power of the Holy Ghost? 3. Is it true that the Holy Ghost can teach me about God, the spirit realm and reveal to me the mysteries of the Bible?4. When I confess Jesus as my Lord and Savior, do I automatically have the Spirit of God in me?5. Can I be an effective witness for Jesus Christ without the power of the Holy Spirit?6. Can I possess Divine Peace through the Holy Ghost?THE HOLY GHOST: THE MISSING LINKAccording to Romans 8:7-8, the natural human mind will serve only its natural desires or “flesh”. With this mind, we are slaves to sin and do not have the ability to please God no matter how hard we try. Spiritually we are considered by God to be “dead” in our sins (Ephesians 2:1). Every human being is spiritually “dead on arrival”. It is true that all persons born, will sin. We can not help it. This birth defect dates back to the first human, Adam (Romans 5:12-21). Adam’s decision to disobey God in the Garden of Eden, brought a terrible penalty upon his bloodline. Adam’s entire lineage, the human race, was infected with sin and would have to suffer both spiritual and physical death. Created in the image and likeness of God, all of mankind was now separated from God because of sin. Despite all we had done, God’s love for us far outweighed the covenant we had broken. As a result of this Love, God sent a remedy for our sin problem. He sent His only son, Jesus. God caused His power--The Holy Ghost-- to come upon a virgin jewish woman named Mary and impregnate her with His son (Luke 1:26-35/Matthew 1:18-25). His son Jesus was now completely fused with and a part of the human race. Jesus, who was equipped, anointed and filled with the power of the Holy Ghost, never bowed to sin (Luke 4:1/Acts 10:38/Luke 4:18/2 Corinthians 5:17-21). Jesus, through the Holy Ghost, overpowered His human nature and defeated sin. He completed the lengthy process by making full atonement for mankind with His death (Romans 5:10-11). God then brought Jesus back to life through the power of the Holy Ghost (Romans 8:11). Romans 8:1 states that those in Christ, who follow the Spirit, are no longer spiritually dead, but are now spiritually alive. They have moved from condemnation to restoration. Romans 8:9 states that these people have been made alive by the Spirit of God that lives inside of them. These people live in the Spirit and are able to overcome sin. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, they are no longer ruled by their sinful human nature. They now live submitted to their Godly nature. Romans 8:9 concludes by stating, “if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he [or she] is none of His”. In contrast, Romans 8:14 states that people who are “led by the Spirit”, are the sons of God. In Romans 8:15-16 we learn that, through the Spirit, we are adopted into God’s family. The Holy Ghost bears witness with our spirit that we are the Children of God. Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, He had a final meeting with His disciples (Acts 1). Jesus prepared the disciples to carry on the work of the ministry. The last commandment Jesus gave to the disciples was to wait for the promise of the Holy Ghost, which the Father would send them. Once they were filled with the Holy Ghost, they would have power to go and be effective witnesses of Jesus to the world. Prior to this final meeting, the disciples had travelled with Jesus as He did many miracles. The disciples performed miracles as well, because Jesus gave them the power and authority to do so. Now that Jesus was leaving, where would their power come from? How would the disciples continue to do miracles and great works of God? Despite all of their previous experiences with Jesus, they now had to be filled with the Spirit of God, just as Jesus had been. (Luke 3:21-22/ Luke 4:1). The disciples would have to follow the example of Jesus, who accomplished his earthly mission and ministry by the power and leading of the Holy Ghost (Luke 4:14-18/ Acts 1:2/Hebrews 9:14).In the book of Acts, chapter 19, the apostle Paul encounters a group of disciples in the city of Ephesus. Paul asked these disciples if they had received the Holy Ghost since they believed. The disciples told Paul they had never heard of the Holy Ghost. Previously, they had received John's baptism of repentance. In response, Paul told them about Jesus. He then baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus. Paul laid hands on the disciples and the Holy Ghost came upon them. After receiving the Holy Ghost, these disciples spoke in other tongues (languages). They also prophesied, speaking the words of the Lord (Acts 19:1-7). The Spirit of God, aka The Holy Ghost, aka the Comforter, aka The Spirit of Truth, is the missing link for many who have tried unsuccessfully to live a Christian life of faith. The Holy Ghost is the missing link for many who are searching for a closer and deeper relationship with God. The Holy Ghost is the missing link for many who are trapped in harmful addictions. The Holy Ghost is the missing link for many who desire the strength, courage and boldness to take the Gospel of Jesus to the world.  So what should I do now?  If you have never experienced the peaceful, powerful and wonderful Holy Ghost, I want to direct your attention to Acts 2:38. "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost." To repent is to turn from living your life in the way that you thought was best. It is to know that you are a sinner in need of redemption, saving and guidance. To truly repent is to turn away from the deception of Satan and run towards Jesus, who is the Truth, with all your might. Baptism is simply to be immersed in water. This is God's requirement for the remission of sins. See the Going Under section on the above menu for more info on baptism. After you have repented and been baptized in water, pray and ask God to fill you with His precious Holy Ghost. (Matthew 3:11). Pray in Faith and God will fill you with this awesome power! He will do it. Ask God to lead you to other Spirit-Filled believers. As you pray, read and study the Bible, your desire for God will increase. In Spirit-filled atmospheres, your faith and spiritual knowledge will grow. You will be much stronger. Seek the real Holy Ghost power. As you thirst and hunger,your Heavenly Father will bless you with His Spirit. (Luke 11:9-13).

Romans 8:26-27 -The Holy Ghost will give you a new language to communicate with God. Acts 2:4/Acts 19:6/Mark 16:17 -The Holy Ghost will build you up spiritually. 1 Corinthians 14:4-The Holy Ghost will teach you, and give you divine insight and understanding of the Word [the Bible]. Who Is Jesus?

Who is Jesus? Why is He revered in so many different countries, cultures and communities throughout the world? Whether you are a follower or not, it is clear to see that Jesus left a Legacy that cannot be erased. After more than 2,000 years people continue to examine and discuss his life. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross at Calvary has served as inspiration for billions of people. With the massive effect that He has had on our world, there are still some who question the validity of Jesus? Is Jesus just a Legend, invented by crafty men who wanted to control the minds of people? Are the accounts of miracles done by him and the lives he affected, just myth? Was Jesus so brilliant that he faked his own death and resurrection? Perhaps the numerous, yet corroborating, biblical accounts of his life are merely coincidence. Maybe the life of Jesus is just fiction. That's one way to deal with the Jesus question. Here's another-- Could it be that Jesus is, in fact, THE SON Of GOD? Perhaps the virgin birth was God's unique way of setting Jesus apart for all time. Was the foretelling of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, by the prophets, hundreds of years before his birth, mere luck? Perhaps it was God'’s specific way of revealing to mankind that a Savior would come. Why did Jesus walk on water and then enable Peter to do the same? Perhaps Jesus possessed power from On High that surpasses natural and physical limits. Maybe Jesus was more than just a charismatic speaker. Why did Jesus show such great compassion by healing people of all types of diseases, mental illnesses, sicknesses, conditions and injuries? The Bible says God is Love. Perhaps Jesus was the embodiment of pure Love. Why did the sky turn dark and why was there a great earthquake when Jesus breathed his last breath at Calvary? Perhaps God, the Creator of the Universe and Father of Jesus, was profoundly moved by the death of His Son. Did Jesus really come back to life after three days and appear to many of his followers? Perhaps Jesus conquered Death, once and for All. Perhaps his followers needed to See him alive again, so they could Witness to the World the power of Jesus. Is it true that on his last day on Earth, Jesus ascended up into the clouds as his disciples watched? Perhaps Jesus returned to his true home, Heaven.What a tale told, or what a man! All the writers, past and present, could have never come up with such a character. In no comic book will you find a hero with as many amazing abilities and powers as Jesus. What an original! Many in the entertainment industry owe royalties to God for using Jesus as a template for their heroic characters and epics.   Can the life of Jesus ever be put to rest? I don't think so. This mystery of Jesus isn't going anywhere. Many have tried to disprove and cast doubts about him. People have tried to figure him out, explain Him, and put Him on the level of an ordinary man. Time and time again, these attempts have failed to quiet the noise about Jesus! Perhaps the access code to unlock such a complex and unconquerable figure was given by God, so ingeniously, to children. Children frequently use their ability to believe beyond reason. They are not limited by logic. Are you able to believe that such a man as Jesus existed? Or are you like many others, unable to go there. Many times we dismiss what we cannot explain. To admit that you believe in Jesus, may cause you to appear unreasonable. To claim that Jesus is Real, may cause others to look at you strange. Is believing in Jesus, God's litmus test of TRUE FAITH? Perhaps this unusual man we refer to as Jesus, came to show us the Love and Awesomeness of God. Perhaps Jesus knows well, the Unimaginable Beauty, Peace, and Riches of Heaven and wants us to come and fellowship with him there. Perhaps Jesus knows well, the Reality of Hell and the wicked intentions of the Great Deceiver, Satan, towards mankind. Perhaps Jesus already knows the final destination of Satan, formerly called Lucifer; the fallen angels and people who follow them, will be the Lake of Fire. Perhaps Jesus is our Only Way of Escape. Was Jesus sent here to show us The Way to Eternal Life? Is it possible to live forever? What are the implications if His story is true? Really, do you have the audacity to believe like a child? Is there a Power greater than you? Have you ever seen something or felt something that you could not explain, but you knew it was real? Is Jesus alive in Heaven right now, waiting for the perfect time to return and save His people from the (d)evil of this world? Will Jesus ultimately bring God's Kingdom to Earth?
