Red Raiders play for region bid tonight

Play-In game for District Tournament
Thurs. Feb. 18
The Red Raiders will take on the Pioneers of Warren Co. again tonight for a chance to play in the District 6-AAA tournament and an automatic bid to the Region tournament. In the previous two games played between these two teams, Warren Co. has won both contests by a combines score of 3 points. The first contest resulted in warren Co. winning on a free throw with no time left on the clock because of a called foul as time expired. The second game was decided by a two point shot drained by a Warren Co. player with 7 seconds left to break a tie and go up two. A last second three by Cory Keeling hit the front iron and left the Red Raiders heart broken yet again. The Red Raiders are looking for revenge tonight, and rightly so.
Wed. Jan. 27
The Red Raiders got back to winning ways on Tues. night with a gutsy four point win against a good Cumberland County squad 62-58. Three Red Raiders scored double digits led by Cory Keeling with 17, Tyler Clayborne with 16, and Krys Renfrow with 12. The Raiders are now 1-3 in district play with four to go.
Mon. Jan. 25
The Raiders completed another tough week with a 4 point loss to White Co. and an energized game at Dekalb County on Sat. The Raiders led most of the game and let it slip in waining minutes. Tyler Clayborne led the Raiders with 24 points, a season high for him.
Wed. Jan. 13
The Red Raiders dropped a couple of games over the past couple weeks with a heart-breakng loss to Franklin Co. and to Grundy Co. again last night. The Raiders will look to rebound Friday night against a very scrappy Warren Co. team.
Sat. Jan. 2
The Red Raiders got back on the winning track over the Christmas break with a win over Santa Fe in the Hampshire Classic. The win came without the help of Krys Renfrow, Cory Keeling, and Whalen Grant. The Red Raiders are back in action on Tues. Jan. 5th at home against Franklin Co.
Wed. Dec. 16
Close doesn't even come near describing the Red Raiders game last night with cross county rival Tullahoma. With 4.5 seconds showing on the clock, the ball on the sideline, and up one; Coffee County's inbound pass was stolen and Tullahoma scored as time expired to take game one of the rivalry. The Red Raiders played their best game of the year, 32 minutes of great defense and patience on offense kept them in the game. The Red Raiders roared to a 12-0 start in the first period. Tullahoma scratched their way back and cut the lead to two at halftime. The second half was a see-saw battle that saw a few lead changes. Although the hurt from this loss is hard to put into words, the guys really learned some things about themselves in this game. The rematch with Tullahoma is slated for Feb. 11.
Friday, Dec. 11
After two heart-breaking losses, the Red Raiders are just looking for a confidence boost. The Raiders lost to Franklin Co. on Tues. night and to Cascade on Thursday and really as the Raiders trying to figure out what to do to get back on the winning track.
Monday, Dec. 8
The Red Raiders dropped another tough one to Page this past Sat. 36-62. Krys Renfrow led all scorers with 27 points. The J.V. squad had a chance toward the end of their game to pull out a win, but couldn't convert on some late fast breaks.
Sat. Dec. 6
The Red Raider Freshmen dropped a close game with Warren county on Thurs. night and won at NGA in Fayetteville on Friday night. They will play again at Cookeville on Mon. Dec. 7.
Wednesday, Dec. 2
On Tuesday night Coffee County hosted the Golden Eagles of Shelbyville. To start the night, the Red Raider J.V. squad showed some very good signs of improvement by giving Shelbyville all they wanted. The Red Raiders got in an early hole down 10 points in the first period. They scratched their way back and took a 12 point lead with 2:30 left in the game only to let it slip away. The game went to overtime where Shelbyville would eventually do enough for a 7 point win.
The varsity Red Raiders had a tall order in trying to slow down Shelbyville's offensive attack and came up short. The Raiders showed some good things in the loss. They put together a nice run to start the second halfand continued to play hard despite the adversity. Three days of practice now will be used to try to polish some things up and work on areas that need to be fixed to get back on the winning track.
