About NYC
It was in the thirties, legend has it, that an old pioneer was asked how many good years Saskatchewan farmers had experienced, “Two”, he replied, “1916 and next year”.
Next Year Country was a magazine initiated by the Saskatchewan Waffle Movement in 1972 and was published in various forms until 1983.
The goal of NYC was to be an alternative to the commercial media and to be a voice for farmers, workers, students and native people that were working for a just and equitable society. This website will make available these magazines as well as other Waffle related documents.

The Waffle began as a left-wing movement in the social democratic New Democratic Party of Canada.
It was kicked out of the Ontario NDP and the Saskatchewan Waffle left in 1972.
These are some of the publications related to the Waffle.
