melissa mcgee
began taking photographs when she was 14 years old. she took a photography course at summer camp and was immediately enamored with the scent of fixer and the lure of the darkroom and all that metal.
(and also the scottish exchange student that taught the class, but that's another website...)
years later, the digital age ensued and melissa was romanced by the immediate gratification afforded by digital cameras.
in 2005, melissa would buy her first holga. then a mamiya. then a polaroid land camera. then a hasselblad.
melissa still shoots with a dSLR camera, but finds any excuse to shoot on medium format film and still develops her own negatives in her bathroom.
melissa's photographs have been published in light leaks magazine, and on websites including mtv.com, cmt.com, dualtone.com, nowpublic.com and many others.
melissa's arsenal includes hasselblad, holga, polaroid land cameras (the cool old kind where you have to pull the film apart), canon and olympus digital SLR.
melissa is a catmom and a fairygodmother to two beautiful nieces and two very sneaky nephews.
aside from photography, she sings in a band on weekends, creates heat-forged and cold-forged sterling silver jewelry and is currently collecting tattoos and the odd piercing. her mantras are "ancora imparo", "memento mori" and "non omnis moriar", for very good reasons.
melissa is a rabid supporter of the west memphis three and an out of control facebook addict. add me as your friend and you'll see.
melissa is just a girl with a camera.
she would love to make some art with you!
