B-Company, 1st Battallion the Royal Ulster Rifles
The role of B-Company, 1st Battallion the Royal Ulster Rifles in WW2 started unceremoniously in 1940, protecting the southern coast of England, yet by May 1944 they were trained and prepared to take part in one of the largest airborne assaults in history - Operation Mallard. Serving in the invasion of Europe, the Rhine crossings and finally the Ardennes, the RUR had been deployed twice by glider by the end of the war
As a reenactment impression, B-Company 1 RUR was founded in 2004 and today continues as strong as ever with an enthusiastic section of riflemen, bringing together the everyday routine and the extraordinary courage shown throughout the war years by these local lads.
