Frontline's membership has a wide and varied range across Ireland, all with one common aim; the promotion of living history. With a special interest in the Second World War, and the effects on both troops and civilians, Frontline frequently brings to life the events of the era.
Conducting both regular closed training events and public displays, the Frontline members have ample opportunity to both train and discuss the tactics, weapons, equipment and conditions in which opposing sides fought. We do not aim to glorify war, nor do we attempt to recreate events as they must have been, simply bring to life the atmosphere and emotion as it was not so long ago.
The weapons and tactics developed during the years of World War Two were fundamental in shaping modern warfare, and a vast deal can be learnt from an understanding of these tools, but a healthy respect is vital in order that training is conducted safely. In order to achieve the high standards for which we strive, all members are required to conduct training and familiarisation on both allied and axis weapons of the war; training which culminates in both live firing practices and blank firing public displays.
In addition to blank firing weapons, Frontline integrates both battle pyrotechnics and simulated weapons systems into battle scenarios, ensuring unprecedented realism and maximum enjoyment for spectator and participant alike.
INTERESTED IN JOINING?
Frontline membership is open to all and no application for membership will be refused, unless the persons admission may be likely to cause serious upset and/or disharmony or may be harmful to the Associations well-being and that of its Members. There will be no discrimination on grounds of race, gender, occupation, sex, sexual orientation or religious, political or other opinion.
While we all pursue this hobby for many varied reasons, Frontline insists on a number of fundamental ground rules:
An annual membership is charged and a small fee is taken on attendance at club training.
Membership must be active, everyone is encouraged to maintain a close involvement in all club activities.
High levels of discipline, respect and authenticity are expected when in attendance at public events.
Mandatory weapons familiarisation must be undertaken prior to participating in a public event.
This list is not exhaustive and acts only as an indication of the standards required. Please contact the Association secretary for more information (secretary_frontlinehistory.com).
