Looking to the future
A recent idea was to look at the feasibility of erecting a bandstand in Crosby village. It is thought that this could encourage the community back into the village in large numbers not just at the weekend, but at times through the week.
The thought is that to have a place for local bands to perform as well as local amateur dramatics groups, operatic societies and much more we can deliver free entertainment for the community and help our local businesses.
We are looking to provide some evidence that can support the project, and whilst only at the preliminary stages as a concept, we obviously need to back up any project with figures that support us pressing ahead.

Please also remember that ABC wants to hear from you and we welcome all ideas on how we can improve our village. We were never anti development and actually encourage sensible, substainable development that is undertaken to improve our community - not just improve some ones profits. so whatever your ideas and thoughts, let us know and look out for details of our next meeting.

a brief history of abettercrosby...
abettercrosby is a community group originally set up to fight proposals to destroy two thirds of the current Crosby Village with an aircraft hangar size Sainsburys. This, however, is only the start of the story. Abettercrosby has succesfully brought together over 80% of the local community in voicing their opposition to the proposed development - a development that has now been rejected by the Council planning committee.
We understand that investment is needed in Crosby, and we understand the investment would be best coming from Sainsburys as they have been involved in the community for over 25 years. We just think the original proposals did not give anything to Crosby village. We Do want a larger store, but not so large it destroys the village for ever and takes our independent traders with it. We want alternative proposals that will ensure the village remains a village whilst encouraging development on an appropriate scale.
