Zichron Avrohom Dov (Z.A.D)
Zichron Avrohom Dov - Stamford Hill
Our new project Zichron Avrohom Dov was set up to replace Chaverim in South Tottenham. We created Zichron Avrohom Dov in memory of a young Chaverim member, Avrohom Dov Patashnik, who tragically passed away last summer.
A group of Avrohom Dovs friends, together with his brother Eli wanted to create something useful and tangible with which they ccould remember him. As Avrohom Dov did so much to help Chaverim become the major force that it is in the lives of young boys in North London, it was decided the new Chaverim should be named in his memory. All activities in North London will now be run by Z.A.D under the rabbinic leadership of Rabbi Biberfeld.
With the help of a grant from the neighbourhood management of Haringey Council, Zichron Avrohom Dov took off with a flying start. Renovations to the room in Crowland Road Shul that was damaged by fire 18 months ago, are now complete. A very successful Avos Uvonim programme has already been held.
Z.A.D now offers football on Sundays in Gladesmore Sports Centre and a weekly self defence programme on Mondays. A weekly shiur is given by Rabbi Biberfeld, Rov of Crowland Road Shul. The boys also have a weekly opportunity to join the Kollel Erev.
Z.A.D intends to incorporate the Keystone Award Scheme into its activities. Older boys who want to become volunteers or assist in the running of Z.A.Ds programmes are encouraged to keep full records of their achievements under a scheme that awards them either bronze, silver or gold certificates. They then become fully fledged Z.A.D volunteers.
Boys today need the right hashkofos and an appropriate environment & outlet to help them grow and achieve their aims. They need to be encouraged to develop and become the mature, young adults that the kehillo needs.
Z.A.D is a blue print for the community. We provide a range of services & leisure facilities to young boys aged 10 -16. Thus Z.A.D provides a safe haven, benefiting and improving the quality of life for our boys.
We aim to mould confident and fulfilled youth with positive opportunities to develop skills and relationships and equipping them with the tools necessary to lead productive adult lives. We provide regular homework support groups, Minyonim and breakfast Groups, plus our summer and winter day and stay away camps, P.E and self defence courses and after school groups and programmes.
