Gender Equality is the Third Millennium Development Goal. While the empowerment and equality of women is a goal in and of itself, the Millennium Declaration also asserts that "without progress towards gender equality and the empowerment of women, none of the MDG's will be achieved."Working tirelessly to educate, train, and promote gender equality is Bpeace (Business Council for Peace), a non-profit international volunteer network of business professionals. Bpeace works in Afghanistan and Rwanda, providing women entrepreneurs with training and education in better business practices. As a result, these women are able to provide for themselves and their families, as well as stimulate their communities through employment opportunities. Bpeace believes that "More jobs mean less violence." www.bpeace.org

Bpeace thinks so.Even in the most challenging times, there’s always a story behind the scenes that provides hope for the future. This summer it’s the Bpeace Race to Innovation. Created by Bpeace (Business Council for Peace), this competition is calling on the brightest most talented entrepreneurs in Afghanistan to compete for pro-bono business consulting and access to capital that will transform their innovative business idea into a reality. What’s innovative about this race? Just about everything. The Race is open to any Afghan entrepreneur – male or female over the age of 18 – with a new idea for a marketable product or service that is head and shoulders above anything else in their countries. Their creative inspiration must have the potential to create jobs and give back to the community. There’s still a chance to get involved! You can be part of the team that identifies these high-caliber entrepreneurs. Go to www.bpeace.org/race.
