Welcome to PUMS, one of Peninsula's largest societies
Peninsula Undergraduate Medical Society 2009-2011.
Welcome to the Peninsula Undergraduate Medical Society or PUMS as it is lovingly known around the medical school!
PUMS was set up and established in 2009 by Mohsin Choudry, iBSc Medical Student, alongside his fantastic committee and has sprung to prominence as one of the largest and most active societies at Peninsula Medical School. The original founders had several aims for a student led medical society, which were to augment the self-directed curriculum at PMS, provide a platform for those wishing to pursue the medical specialties and to coordinate the ever growing base of voluntary and extracurricular teaching offered throughout the PMS localities.
In its second year, we now have over 400 members! Several lectures and microteaches have been provided in Exeter, Plymouth and Truro and we have had some big, inter-campus events (some in conjuction with DEMS and PUS) including the Podmedics revision day and Professor Kumar's visit.
PUMS has recently seen further expansion, with the founding committee creating the merger of PsychSoc into the PUMS family as well as establishing links with the Devon and Exeter Medical Society, DEMS, which is one of the oldest medical societies in the UK!
PsychSoc has now disbanded but lectures and microteaches on psychiatry will still be provided by PUMS. If there are any particular topics you would like teaches on, please let us know.
