The Curriculum Choice INWP Collaboration Schools have developed collaborative links with Abbey Grange, Allerton High and Lawnswood School to ensure that we can offer a more flexible curriculum for our students. In 2011 - French, German, Further Mathematics, Photography, Product Design, Textiles, Drama, ICT, Government & Politics and Law will continue to be taught as part of the collaboration. ENTRY REQUIREMENTSA LEVEL COURSESTo study A levels in Consortium Schools you will require five GCSEs at A* - C. Equivalentt level qualifications such as BTECs are accepted, but the five subjects must come from at least 4 subject areas. These must include English & Maths.Alongside these general entry qualifications , each subject area has its own subject specific entry requirements which are included in each school's Post 16 prospectus and is the guideline for acceptance when a subject is delivered collaboratively.Full time courses are normally allocated 4.5 hours a week unless there are small numbers in which case the hours will be reduced accordingley.However, this means that these classes have a better teacher- student ratio.Classes with very low numbers will run.If you have studied a subject at GCSE, you must have achieved at least a 'C' in order to study the subject at A Level; some subjects will require a grade B (see individual subject entry requirements from each school).ROUTES TO POST 16 STUDYWe welcome anyone who has researched thoroughly and made an informed choice about their future education.There are different routes available to students in our 6th forms. You will receive guidance about the most appropriate pathway for you to follow. Route 1: Advanced Courses.  The minimum requirement for acceptance on to Advanced level courses is 5 GCSE passes at Grade C and above preferably including English and Maths. Most students would choose 4 subjects at AS level to study in Y12. Route 2: Level 3 Vocational courses (BTEC )The minimum requirement for acceptance on to Level 3 Vocational courses is 5 GCSE passes at Grade C including English and Maths. These courses are equivalent to 2 or more A Levels and students would usually choose an additional A level subject. Route 3: Level 2 Vocational courses (BTEC First Diploma or OCR National Certificate) The minimum requirement for acceptance on to Level 2 courses is 4 GCSE passes (or equivalent), preferably including English and Maths. In addition to the Level 2 course, there is an opportunity to gain an ICT qualification, improve their literacy and numeracy skills and participate in work experience. This is a one year course that could lead to Route 2 in Year 13. All of the courses on offer need viable numbers to run and if courses are not availableat your home school we will work with our partner schools to meet individual student’s needs.

If you are a student in Year 11 and are about to start considering Post 16 you will have a greater choice of courses available to you. Abbey Grange High School, Allerton High Business and Enterprise Specialist School, Lawnswood High School and Ralph Thoresby High School have united their resources to offer students a significantly greater variety of courses in their Post 16 centres.

The INWP will ensure that more students now have more choices. Our four schools are working well together. Minority subjects are well organised and courses for these are running successfully across the partnership. We have drawn together these small numbers and created larger groups and improved students’ choices and learning experiences.
