Helping Youth Discover Their Power to Be!
The Power to be Foundation for Youth is a Canadian non-profit organization established in 2009. The objective of the The Power to Be Foundation for Youth is to encourage leadership and to support academic achievement by providing underprivledged Canadian and Caribbean youth opportunities to succeed in school and in life.
We plan to provide resources such as academic scholarships, literacy and leadership programs, as well as financial aid in the development and maintenance of the basic primary and secondary schools in Canada and the Caribbean.
Youth Committee
We formed a youth committee that comprises of local at risk youth.We are implementing programs designed to re-engage youth at risk in the educational process while simultaneously promoting self-esteem, improving behaviour patterns, and helping students integrate in positive ways with their community. Our Youth committee will have hands on experience with the planning and implementation of our programs and fundraising efforts. This involvment will help build a sense of community as well as equipt them with valuable skills that that can be used in their future careers.

Camps for
Kids
We are working to raise money and sponsorship to run a leadership program in the summer of 2010. The program will provide leadership and skills training to youth between 12 and 16 years old in Jamaica.
Volunteer teachers and youth workers will work with selected youth to provide an opportunity that we believe will have a positive impact on the development and success of those who take part.
Literacy Camps:
During the summer of 2010 we will also run a literacy and sports camp for children 6 to 11 years old. This program will assist in the development and maintenance of basic literacy skills and provide an opportunity for the children to have fun!
Past students who have already completed the leadership camp will be hired and paid to work during literacy and sports camps in the future.

Scholarships
Scholarships:
Secondary School Scholarship Program
Supports uniform, school supplies, and books for all qualifying students.
The program will also track individual students through personal letters and progress reports in an effort to provide continued support and encouragement.
University Scholarship Programs
Awards financial support to first year college students who qualify. These students will likely come from the pool of students who have already received support from our foundation.
