BIO
Pocket Grooves began with the simple dream of a musician to provide professional services as a session bassist to local music studios in Greensboro, NC. Josh Senic, bassist since 1992, began performing as a freelance bassist on artist recordings in 2001. Without professional gear or motivation at that time, Josh wasn't seriously considering a career path as a musician.
However, Josh realized the need in the local market of Greensboro for exceptional musicians, and decided to take a chance in the local music industry. In 2007, Josh began working as a professional bassist for hire. Starting out, Josh provided free sessions as he was getting a feel for the local market and what rates should be charged. In November 2008, Pocket Grooves was born. Josh has been providing studio recording sessions and live performances for hire for North Carolina's top talent for extremely reasonable rates ever since.
Josh Senic has worked with such elite talent as: Alex Koman, Goose, Amber Dawson, Aisha Lewis, Jonathan Lemmon, Dustin York, and more. Josh provides live bass accompanyment to his studio clientele as needed, as well as new clients as requested. Recorded projects that Josh has worked on were produced at Underground Sound Recording Studio in Greensboro, NC. Josh is currently networking with more top notch studios in Greensboro and the surrounding area in order to provide services to more of NC's great talent.
When not recording and performing with great talent, Josh Senic enjoys a normal life with his family. He works a full-time job, goes to school full-time, enjoys taking care of his lawn and garden, and spends time with his family as much as his busy schedule allows. Josh is pursuing an associates degree from ITT Technical Institute in Computer Networking Systems, and then will pursue his Bachelor's degree from ITT Technical Institute in Information System Security.
Josh Senic is not currently booking through Pocket Grooves due to circumstances beyond foreseeable control, but has limited availability for studio recording sessions. Contact Josh for price quotes and availability.

RATES & GEAR
rates
Rates are currently being contracted with custom rates. The fact that they are contracted means that before the session begins, the client will sign a contract agreeing to the custom rate agreed upon by Josh Senic and the client. Upon completion of the recording project, the client will receive a copy of this contract for their records.
gear
Josh Senic's rig is simple and minimalistic, consisting of two basses, a combo amp, a direct DI box, a tuner, and instrument cables.
NOTE : Josh is not an official endorser of any of the gear listed below. Josh has no incentive from the manufacturers of this equipment to list the instuments, amplification, and accessories used for sessions and performances. Josh simply wants to share with you what equipment is currently working for him so that it may also work for you. Cheers!
Josh's primary bass is a Traben Chaos Obsession 5-string with Matte Finish over Striped Ebony Top, Maple/Walnut 5-piece neck through Royal Paulonia body, Wenge fingerboard, Rockfield Passive Soapbars, Traben 3-band preamp.
Josh's secondary bass is a Yamaha RBX460 with Red Dye Finish over Quilted Maple Top, Alder Body, 3-piece Maple Bolt-on neck, Rosewood fingerboard, Basslines Quarter Pound Precision + Jazz set), Basslines 2-band active preamp, Hipshot B-style bridge, and a new battery box for easy battery changes. Josh has converted this bass to fretless, so the warm and soulful tonesthat a fretless bass can offer are available for your recording project as a client of Josh Senic's.
Josh's amp for live performances is a simple (and loud) Ampeg BA115HP.
Josh uses a Korg GA-10 tuner in the studio.
Josh uses Mogami Gold instrument cables while recording and performing live.
Josh uses LaBella nickel roundwounds on the Traben 5-string bass, and LaBella black nylon tapewound strings on the fretless Yamaha 4-string bass. Josh is willing to string either bass with flatwound nickel strings with an advanced request by a client seeking the specific sound of nickel flatwound strings. If you don't know the sound, don't worry -- you don't need it. :-)

"Josh is a fast learner and is capable of many styles of music. I was glad to have his creative input and dedication to the song. Always positive, Josh's encouragement fosters a great atmosphere for making music."
--Alex Koman, July 17, 2009
“I highly recommend Josh Senic of Pocket Grooves to provide bass accompaniment for any of your musical projects or endeavors. Josh is a talented musician with an ear for creativity and can adapt his skill to fit various genres of music. I had the pleasure to work with Josh on my recent gospel album release. He was punctual, friendly, easy to work with, listened to my overall expectations for the project and type of sound for the songs we recorded, and provided valuable input that helped elevate the music to a higher level. (To this day, one of the bass notes he added to the song "Yes" gave the song a new dimension, and has propelled it to the most popular song on the project!) If you are looking for a professional musician to add quality sound to your project, look no futher than Josh Senic of Pocket Grooves.
Top qualities: Great Results , Personable , Good Value"
