Since 2004, Southampton-based, all female group, the Daisybelles (Sue Stockley, Pam Robertson, Sian Gerbino and Roz Fresson and new members, Caroline Robinson and Emma Evans), have taken on a variety of projects including comedy plays, 1940s musical evenings, classical concerts and compilation shows. Led by Sue Stockley, who also teaches Music Theatre in Southampton, the Group now regularly receives bookings for performances as well as devising their own shows. They often work with other local amateur and professional performers and groups and are regularly accompanied by pianist Nickie Tabeart.
Sue says "We work hard at presenting high quality shows and we know that our audiences love the shows. We now receive regular bookings from organisations and businesses wanting evening or afternoon entertainment or group singing so it's great that our name has become synonymous with good, fun, high quality musical entertainment".
The Daisybelles are available for bookings - please use the contact page.
Pam Robertson has been studying singing with Southampton singer and teacher, Carol Bishop for nearly 20 years and also enjoys acting and playing the piano although the latter is never in public! Having previously sung with a number of local choirs and appeared with the Hillside Opera Group, she now regularly sings with Carol's own group, the Longlea Singers, and with her own singing partner, Sian Gerbino.
Susan Stockley lives in Southampton and runs a busy singing teaching practice as well as teaching in schools and colleges in Hampshire. She performs as a singer professionally with local bands and, in recent years she has co-written pantomimes for local drama groups and directed musical events and comedy plays. Sue is also an accomplished flautist.
Australian-born Roz Fresson is a teacher and started her stage career early in amateur dramatic parts from the age of seven. As well as acting and singing, Roz also plays the piano and has appeared with a number of local groups including Romsey Amateur Operatic Society. She studies singing with local teacher and singer, Carol Bishop, and, most recently, has supported Carol's one-woman shows, including providing the voice-overs for some Hollywood Greats like Lana Turner for a show which appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Summer 2006.
Sian Gerbino has been singing most of her life. She studies with local singer and teacher, Carol Bishop, and also performs with Pam Robertson as a duo. Sian appeared as Sister Mary Amnesia in the Daisys' production of Nunsense where her chief claim to fame was her ventriloquist act!
Emma Evans has been enjoying studying Music Theatre with Sue Stockley for 2 years and has performed in a number of venues and at local music festivals. She was delighted to take on the alter ego of Mickey, the wannabe Dolly Parton, in "Cowgirls"and perfected her accent for the role! Emma originally trained as a dancer and also put putting those skills to the test in "Cowgirls" in a terrific feat of line-dancing with her side-kick, Mo, aka Caroline! When she isn't performing, Emma loves to spend time with her husband Gary and their family.
Caroline Robinson has studied with Carol Bishop for 12 years, and sings with the Longlea Singers. Having survived the experience of giving her own concert together with fellow singer, Portia Kitcher last year, she felt ready to make her country music debut in "Cowgirls". Bringing her ukulele out into public was a fairly terrifying experience, but luckily Mo is not actually meant to be a good musician!!
Nickie Tabeart is the Daisybelles' regular accompanist. She trained at the Guildhall and runs a thriving teaching practice in Havant as well as accompanying many local groups and soloists.
The Daisybelles regularly perform with other local musicians and performers, including accompanist Jan Scott, saxophonist Graham Ball, and actor Mat Robinson.
