First off we have a 1968 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 that a customer bought from Colorado. We started going through the FJ to determine what further upgrades it needs. Our customer is planning on using this an around town daily driver and wants it to be super reliable. Although the body and chassis is nicely restored, there seems to be some loose ends in the details.
Another update from back in January. We have this one on hold for some brainstorming. Our customer decided to axe the winch and add some A/C. The 35" tires are going away for some 33" meats. More on this one later on.
We have been plugging along on the Cruiser and the punch list gets smaller. We sent the top and doors, along with a new hood to the painter for a fresh coat. Hopefully by the weeks end the rest will be off as well. We installed an A/C unit for some much needed cooler air. We had to go through the install and fabricate a bracket for the unit. We also revised the power steering bracket as well. A new throttle body and fuel lines were also installed to boost power. The wiring continues and continues (and continues) to sort out the previous problems.
We have installed new seat brackets for the pair you see here. Much needed upgrade for the front set. Once those are in, we will be working on the 3 point belts to go along with them.
And finally we are working on installing the new rubber floor covering, measure and trim, measure and trim, repeat.
This old soldier had the interior removed and is getting ready to head out on a mission for new paint inside and out. New uniform for a seasoned vet.
We were able to get all of the accessories hooked up off the drive belts. We also got started on the fabrication of the new radiator supports. little by little we are making ground!
We have this veteran back from the painter and are busy installing the glass, heater, dash pad, new carpeted headliner, and door hardware. It's all coming together nicely.
Take a look at the "Spaghetti Nightmare". Joe is going through the wiring to sort out all of the issues with the primary under dash harness to make sure this FJ is reliable.
Joe is hard at work installing the wiring harness, and working out the multiple bugs. Joe has found many problems and has made this FJ one dependable Toyota.
We have the FJ back from inside to wrap up the custom stereo install, and a few other interior goodies. This will be very nice, now the driver can choose to listen to the purr of the fuel injected 6 cylinder or the thump of the stereo!
