Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat
June 16-28
Bring the Whole Family to this colorful retelling of Joseph…
(Augusta, MI) If you’re looking to add more magnificent color to your life this summer, head over to the Barn Theatre! Cast and crew are painting the theatre red…and yellow and green and brown and blue! The Barn is proud to present the return of their blockbuster hit Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!
Straight from the Book of Genesis, “Joseph…” tells the tale of the young prophet Joseph (portrayed by Barn favorite, 3rd year apprentice, Kevin White), and his fateful journey as the favored son of his father, Jacob. He is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and after a stint of impressive dream-translations, finds himself at the top with Pharaoh the king. The role of the Narrator will be shared by two outstanding performers, Brooke Evans and Lisa Marie Morabito.
“Joseph...” features a stellar cast of wacky and distinctive characters including Joseph’s father Jacob, Gregg Rehrig, the sophisticated millionaire Potiphar portrayed by Steven Lee Burright and an Elvis-like Pharaoh played by Eric Petersen. Perhaps the most versatile characters in the show are Joseph’s eleven jealous brothers. Audiences will undoubtedly recognize 2nd year apprentices Eric Morris, as Levi (“One More Angel in Heaven”), Alex Kip portraying Reuben (“Those Canaan Days”) and Patrick Hunter as Simeon (“Benjamin’s Calypso”). Also featured are 16 area children performing in the children’s choir.
The variety of the musical styles used by Lloyd Webber, including parodies of French ballads, Elvis inspired rock and roll, Caribbean style and disco is what gives “Joseph” its universal appeal. What began as a 15-minute show in 1967 has become an international audience mega-hit that has played to sold out houses!
“Joseph” is directed by Eric Parker and Kevin Field is Choreographer. John Jay Espino is Musical Director. Fred Gillette is Scenic Designer & Technical Director. Steven Lee Burright is Scenic Painter. Costumes are designed by Michael Wilson Morgan with properties designed by James B. Knox. Garrylee McCormick is the Hair/Wig Designer. Lighting Design is by Aaron Siegmann and Sound Design is created by Elizabeth Robson.
