Look Out Chippendales ~ here they Come!
(Augusta, MI) On June 30 the raucous and heartfelt musical THE FULL MONTY reveals itself once again on the Barn stage and plays through July 12!
Based on the record-breaking 1997 Academy award-winning hit movie of the same name, THE FULL MONTY allows us to peek inside the life of six unemployed steelworkers who go to great lengths to make some cash and help out a friend. The story focuses on Jerry, (portrayed by Eric Parker reprising his role from the Barn’s 2005 production) who is separated from his wife, Pam and dangerously behind on his child support payments. After seeing how the local women respond to a traveling male strip show, Jerry decides he and his friends should form their own Chippendales-like group in order to raise some much needed funds. The cash-strapped factory workers figure they can cash in big time, but only if they go the “full monty.” Desperate times call for desperate measures!
The Barn’s production also stars Chicago Equity Guest Artists Stanley White as Noah (Horse) T. Simmons, Iris Lieberman as Jeanette Burmeister as well as Barn favorites Penelope Alex as Georgie, Dusty Reeds as Molly MacGregor (both reprising their 2005 roles), 2nd Year apprentice Patrick Hunter as Dave Bukatinsky, Gregg Rehrig as Harold, 1st year apprentice Aaron Fried as Malcolm and 2nd year apprentice Alex Kip as Ethan.
THE FULL MONTY ran for 770 performances on Broadway, and Composer David Yazbek, winner of the 2001 Drama Desk Award for his music, explains “THE FULL MONTY is a sports story. It’s not about stripping. It’s a bunch of guys who get together and form a team. There are ups and downs and in the end, they win.”
THE FULL MONTY is directed by Lisa Marie Morabito. Choreography is by Kevin Field with Musical Direction by John Jay Espino. Original set design by Doug Blickle. Costumes are designed by Michael Wilson Morgan. Properties are by James B. Knox.
