The Paul Kinney Legacy
Paul Kinney was a Vietnam Veteran who loved to help others, he spent over 20 years in the military serving his country along side thousands of other veterans. Paul was involved in the V.V.A Salina Kansas chapter. Paul loved to help others in times of need. He saw many veterans come back to the states homeless. Pauls heart was dedicated to his fellow soldiers. He would assist in helping them by any means possible. In 2008 Paul got extremely ill and Oct. 22, 2008 he succumed to cancer. Andy and Paul were very close friends, Andy saw him as a Grandfather, friend, confidante, fellow food fighter, and a true hero. Andy dedicated his life to serving others within days of Pauls passing. He wanted to continue the legacy of Paul Kinney.
Andy started the "Paul Kinney Bike-A-Thon" in Feb. 2009. Making plans, flyers, calls to local news crews and newspapers, Andy was on a mission to never leave a fellow mans legacy behind. Feb. 18, 2009 was the start of a new legacy, The Paul Kinney Bike-A-Thon!
The Ride To Keep Em Alive is going to be located at the Salina Rescue Mission in Salina Kansas on Feb. 20th 2010 at 9 A.M. Andy will jump on the bike and not get off til his new goal is met. Last year his goal was to fill the back of a pick up truck, he met his goal by raising 1725 items and $275.00 in 6 hours and 23 min. This year Andy has raised his bar and his goal is to raise 2500 items and $400. The need is greater than ever. You can stop by the Mission on Feb 20th and give Andy your support! God put us all on this earth together and together we must reach our hand out to others.
