Patricia Vidour
My name is Patricia Vidour. I was born in the city of Rosario, Argentina, South America, where I live and work. I’m a descendent of French and Italian citizens who immigrated to Argentina during the 19th century.Since I picked up a pencil between my fingers, as a child, art has been in my heart. Painting became my best friend and company, my dreamtime, my life. At the age of 14, I decided to make art my career choice. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in painting at 24, at Rosario Fine Arts University. I gambled my life for art, which is the most absolute degree of love.I have worked as a professional artist since 1982 and express myself in a variety of of media, including pencil, watercolor, acrylic, oil, inks, collage and digital. Sometimes I like to play with old papers in my paintings. I integrate them and they become a new reality. I believe in collage art as recycling, something that helps maintain a healthy environment. The main focus in my art is to reflect accurately, the feelings of any, or every woman, her inside, not only of the nowadays woman, but also along time line history. The woman is the cellebrity of my art, her geography, her inner secrets. I have created many paradigmatic series suggesting differents messages, such as: Green Conscious, We are, Fragile Balance, Mujeres de Pichincha Series -Pichincha’s Ladies-, inspired by a Rosario neighborhood called Pichincha, which at the beginning of 19th. century was famous for its many brothels. By that time it was a den of prostitution, mafia gangs, police corruption and disease, and Rosario city was called "the Chicago Argentine"; or “Medieval Portraits Series” or “Patricias Argentinas 2008 Series”, a grotesque based on the 2008 Argentina powerful woman. Nowadays, I am a free-lance, self-employed artist. Most of my time is spent painting. I work as a self-representing artist, selling my work internationally.My art is in private collections in many countries: Argentina, Spain, France, Germany, Checoslovaquia, Polonia, Austria, Hungria, Holland, Belgium, Italy, England, Russia, United States and Canada.I have had the honour to know Dr. August Coppola -Nicolas Cage's father-, who “discovered” my art through internet, and he has an extense collection of more than 200 of my paintings. My work is my prayer, my storm, my light. Not good or bad, but my voice. Straight from my soul to yours.
