Parkhausprojects
about
Originally a car park house for the officers of the DDR, it is still a place where over half is leased out for parking.Parkhaus projects was established in 2008. The space consits of six studios with international artists working over many disciplines. In 2009 the first ehxibition was shown in the newly redesigned space, including the now infamous ramp space. The ramp of course is the driveway for the cars to access their park place and within the ramp is a large central void, 30 meters high. This architecture has been fundamental in the curating of specifc works to suit its strength and beauty.

Circlework
April 2010ARTISTS:Lucio AuriMax FreyFlorian NeufeldtGemma BuddenTim GreavesThe new season starter after a long winter break. Circlework was concept to present artists whose art works touched on the circle. Either grand or small, considered or chanced, objective or subjective. The looping of light or the capturing of a shadow. Circlework as a title worked as a double entendre, where it relates to the artworks and also the parkhaus architecture and the slang term used to descibe a car burning its tires.

Now it leaves me wondering if it was more of an interrogation, there were those spot lights staring down upon me whilst I sat upon some repo of a Mies van der Rohe classic. This eternal Barcelona chair has put dear Ludwig on hold. When an interview felt like an interrogation comforted in high design set amongst a stage and filmed in all its sterility, what is the point of this prosperity? Film but not recorded. On the outside it can be anything you desire, like finding forms in clouds, though on the inside it is me.I am Untitled. Suspended you have now idea of my actions inside. As my outer form is only a skin for the colour within. Exiting from this pause in life, this cocoon, I am emerging, and fuck yeh, I am metamorphing. Will you wait for me?Having entered your world, I now Touch this new space. Is this world yours or my interpretation of it? I feel feel as though I am floating, with my colour so vibrant, like radio waves, like water waves, like sound wave they adorn me. Here I fly in a new universe. How must I adapt? It brings back what Bertolt Brecht has thrown out there for us, Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are. We must grow and either being passive we adapt ourselves to survive or we are aggressive and change that around us to feed us. I can drop into your perspective and see all the geometry in all its glory or I can shift my position and create my own shapes. Here I stand upon your desired point and all the curves line up to skim the skin and we fall into harmony. The tension comes from knowing that if I step out of line all becomes abstract again. You are probably wondering what my ride is..its a fukin Mustang man, Ford fukin Mustang. Why this beast? Because inside this car there is no fear. The father of the Mustang was Lee Iacocca and his words have stayed with me from the time I was born till the BP oil spill today. We've got to pause and ask ourselves: How much clean air do we need?I slip this pony up a gear as I enter the tunnel. Its dark in here, my lights are shot and have to squint my eyes to find the right direction. All flashes past in a blur. What was that and what is that? The tunnel wall is repeated in the windows as picture and they are repeated in the columns,,,,, I pause and ponder (can we ponder without pausing?)what came first the object > drawing > wall or the inverso?I can make no sense of what I see here, is it real or my imagination. I start to panic and push the pedal to the floor. No understanding and not realizing its intentions this tunnel is making me furious.thats it! Its a Frumious Bandersnatch. Now in my trust steed I know I am safe as "She runs so fearfully quick. You might as well try to catch a Bandersnatch!" The drawings and objects are in limbo. They swing between the organic and the industrial, balanced on the fence and wondering which way they will fall. I gain security in Goethe : Nature knows no pause in progress and development, and attaches her curse on all inaction. I reach over to the back seat, grab a beer and down it in one gulp.
