Executive Board 2009-2010
It is an honor to serve on the Panhellenic council Executive Board. Not only is it the governing body of our sororities, but it gives
Greek Life and Greek Unity a new meaning. The executive board gets a very "behind the scenes" look at recruitment
which they develop first hand. Panhellenic facilitates and participates in a variety of campus events throughout the year. The Executive Board also disaffiliates from their respective sororities to participate as Rho Deltas during their term on the Council.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Panhellenic Council?
Panhellenic Council (PHC) is the governing body for the social sororities on campus. The Panhellenic Council is made up of representatives from each recognized sorority.
What is a sorority?
An organized group of students with similar interests who work together to make themselves and the community at large better. They serve as a support system, a living and learning environment, and a home away from home.
Sisterhood
Endless examples of sisterhood all come back to the same ideal, friendship. Sorority life will provide you with a strong network of living sisters for a lifetime! The individual sisters in each sorority form their own unique bonds. Through Panhellenic, members form an even more diverse bond of sisterhood with other sorority's members. The value of true friendship, along with an atmosphere filled with the support of a special kind of family, make a sorority a unique place for learning and living. One not found in any other organization or activity.
Ritual
This is the time devoted to honoring or celebrating the traditions of individual sororities. Greek women hold these traditions dear to their hearts.
Social
Greek Life provides opportunities for great times and life long memories through banquets, socials, and Greek Week. Banquets offer a time to celebrate the organizations with sisters and gives you the change to let your closest friends share a piece of the experience. Socials give you a chance to meet other Greeks. Greek Week is a time meant to bring Greeks together and promote unity.
Financial Obligations
While dues and fees vary, the obligations are there. Each organization is willing to work with its members. Money may not be important in having friends, but like any business a sorority needs funds to keep it running. Consult individual chapters to see what options are available.
Intramurals
A time for Greek women to come together for a little "friendly competition" in sports including basketball, volleyball, flag football, kickball, soccer, and softball.
Lifetime Membership
Sorority life is more than socials and philanthropies. It is the strongest support system yuo will ever experience. It will be there for you to rely on for days past your graudation from Radford University. When you walk across the stage and close your collegiate chapter, the alumni world is there waiting. Greek women continue their involvement in the fraternal world and the community through their alumni programs.
What are the benefits of joining?
Many students who join fraternities or sororities are seeking friendship. However, there are also the benefits that come from the support of a peer group, opportunities for philanthropic involvement and community service, high academic standards, educational programming on topics of health and wellness, experience living and working with a diverse membership, and leadership opportunities.
Are there benefits after graduation?
Absolutely. Greek membership is a lifelong commitment. Once you are an initiated member, you remain a member for life. As such, each national organization has an extensive alumni network. As you know, in today's job market, it is not only important what you know, but who you know. Being a fraternity or sorority member means having an immediate connection with thousands of other members. There are many successful Greek alumni all over the country who are always looking to hire the best and the brightest that our Greek community has to offer. In addition, there are alumni groups or graduate chapters that operate in most cities and metropolitan areas across the country. If you find yourself in a new city, you can start your networking with your brothers or sisters in the local alumni group.
How much will it cost?
Costs vary from chapter to chapter, but expenses will generally include: quarterly local and national dues, and one-time new member and initiation fees. Each chapter is more than willing to work out a payment plan with you.
How do I choose?
Each sorority at RU has something great to offer. The process of recruitment simply shows you the different opportunities offered by each sorority.
Never eliminate an organization too quickly. However, when you need to narrow down your invitation list or prioritize your preference list, here are a few thoughts to help you:
Use your Rho Delta as a sounding board fro your questions and fears.
Listen to your Rho Delta. She has important information.
Call your Rho Delta whenever, for whatever reason.
Talk to your Rho Delta to find answers to your questions and concerns.
Follow your heart and gut instinct. Where do you feel most comfortable?
Remember to always be yourself, and if you feel uncomfortable in an organization then it may not be right for you. Please do not make any judgments based on one member alone. You need to meet as many of the sisters as possible to make a good decision. It is important that you feel comfortable with the chapter you choose because they will be your sisters for a lifetime.
What is a legacy?
A woman whose mother, sister, or in some cases grandmother is an initiated member of a sorority. Legacy stipulations differ for each sorority and fraternity.
