Our Brief History of Time!
Pagan started life in 1985 in Trevor Reekie's Ponsonby (NZ) apartment, much like this one! He was producing soundtracks for a long lost film company and bought the label off the bean counters. Fuelled on cigarettes and coffee Reekie cranked up the amp. Pagan had a string of Chart Hits and became the bastion of popular music.
The A&R philosophy was simple; listen to everything and pick the best. The Pagan catalogue covered music as diverse as Country, Pop, Jazz, roots and blues. Artists included The Warratahs, Shona Laing, Tex Pistol, Rikki Morris, Holiday Makers, Southside Of Bombay and Greg Johnson (refer Label Discography) to name a few.
By the mid 90's Pagan had truly established itself and was ready for the next level. Reekie invited a mate to join him in expanding the label. In came Tim Moon, who, with Reekie, immediately set about establishing a second label Antenna Recordings to develop pop culture artists. Antenna hit the ground running with hits from Darcy Clay, Eye TV, Tadpole, Pluto and Relaxomatic -again we say check out the Label discography page.
