A fresh organization in Chicago's vibrant literary landscape, CSW is founded by those who have spent a quarter century building the city's worldwide reputation for rich poetic culture. Building on Chicago's unique heritage as the birthplace of modern-day performance poetry, Chicago Slam Works brings together audiences, poets, and arts organizations to promote well-crafted performance poetry through event production, community partnerships, and education.
With a variety of dynamic programs, partnerships and initiatives, CSW makes poetry even more engaging and accessibleto move Chicagos literary status
to the next level.

In partnership with Lethal Poetry & Chicagopoetry.com , we will bring back the tradition of an annual poetry festival to Chicago! It's been too long that this city (the birthplace of slam poetry) hasn't had a festival of words that demands the attention of the National & International poetic communities!

Educational Programs:
On an educational level, CSW inspires schools and
communities to embrace the passion and power of poetry in
ways never dreamed possible.
Poets with Class
CSWs education initiative, engages students in creating well-
crafted writing and combines performance to build confidence
and enhance appreciation of the fine arts.
Teach the Teachers
One of CSWs primary goals is to empower teachers with
performance poetry teaching techniques that inspire a love of
poetry techniques that can be used, reused and passed from
teacher to teacher throughout the educational system.
Transform Community through Partnerships
By sharing organizational and programming expertise, CSW
assists young organizations and poet entrepreneurs in
developing new events and services that serve the community,
expand audiences and nurture the artistic careers of
performance poets.
